What a delightfully odd post. I've corrected your spelling errors OP, and corrected your links Tar.

Ah yes, thank you for that. I have readjusted my links for the ladies however.

Er... OSCommerce is free afaik so there's no cash involved and it's software you download and install on your website http://www.oscommerce.com/.

Contact a hosting company like Webworld or hosting365 and ask about it. I know webworld did it for a while a year back.

Then you ask for a hosting plan that has PHP and an SQL databse running with phpMyAdmin so you can access it and make changes via the web. I'm guessing (as most php progs work this way) you upload the files to the webaserver and run the install script which will basically install the needed tables into SQL for you (you'll probably have to change some config files in oscommerce too).

**Just make sure before you choose a hosting solution that they wll have an SQL DB that you can use. Simple eh?**

I don't know what godaddy is like, so i'd ring and ask them will they install it for you that's why I recommended the other two because I know they will although it may be chargable.

Moral of this story is to

Download Zen Cart (Its free) Its more user friendly, Loads and loads of support on their website and forums.

Get hosting that will support Php and all things that go with a e-commerence software. Its easy to install, I can give you my the name of my hosting service if you want.

thanks for all the help. whats the best hosting that has php as mentioned above. btw i want to pay a one off not by monthlys

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,956 ✭✭✭layke

Er, all web hosting companies charge on a monthly basis afaik.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,317 ✭✭✭✭seamus

Nah, most of them let you choose yearly billing.

There's no such thing as "One-off" payments for web hosting. It's a service, so you'll pay a recurring charge for it.

i was positive some charge by the year. well ill be advertising upto 300 as im opening a business. i saw on hosting sites it says how much space comes with the package does that mean how many products i can fit? if so how much would i need and how much would it cost?

i think im just going to go with getting someone upto the house to get everything up like hiring a web designer.
