Fryday & favourite town take-away

Given that many people usually indulge themselves on Friday (if not every other day), what's your favourite Dublin take-away service? I'm a big fan of Charlies in town, but at home it's got to be Excelsior in Rathfarnham.

Oh, and does anyone else know Jim who works there? He's a good mate of mine.

Yep Charlies all the way. I like Charlies III the best, but the new CHarlies IV on George's St is nice too.

As for out loaclly and that, there's a chipper on the Howth Rd called Lynch's that does a lovely half pounder with cheese.

Lynch's is great, I remeber it from my "Cricket" days!

I like the Shalimar in the Epicurean just past Spirit, big plate of beef, rice, sauce and salad for less than a tenner, does the job nicely.

The one bad thing is that it's well pricey there. Charles III is the one on Westmoreland Street yeah? It's the only one I've been in :D

Yeah, the one on Westmoreland St.

You should try the other two also. Temple Bar and Dame St. Well nice.

Are the prices not standard all over.

Hmm, I think I'll treat myself this evening actually, god paid yesterday and all.

A real genuine chinese meal. Chicken Balls, Rice, Chips and Curry sauce.

    Yummers.

By top, do you mean the Liffey end or the Parnell St End?

I like to chow down on a couple of these from my local pizzeria in Artane.

    http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1249/738049523_baa6f7cda3.jpg?v=0

Nutella chocolate spread and Marshmallows with chocolate chips covered in a chocolate sauce.

Can't remember the name of it, but there's a chipper on parnell st. just up from the cinema opposite the ilac that does the best chips in dublin, burgers and other stuff are pretty decent too.

    RICKS

Quality burgers on Dame/George St. always jammers and go real well with their cheese and garlic chips!

A mighty feed after a hard nights drinkin and wimminizin'. Also the following day your poop is solid with almost no wiping required which is a mark of quality imo.

One thing to note though when your in there, DO NOT LOOK AT THE FLOOR. They have this kind of really small checkered black and white tiling going on. somehow my brain can't seem to comprehend them and my head feels funny.
    Very trippy.

If it's down towards where Peats used to be, then it's Benny's. If it's the one on the corner, closer to the Rotunda, then it's the Kingfisher. It's much better than both Benny's and Cinelli's (Parnell St. end Des). Cineli's went downhill after the place went on fire and your man who did the cooking (and who looked like Uri Geller) sold it/gave it up.

If you're around that area, looking for a decent chipper, Del Rio's down the bottom of Marlborough St. (Liffey end Des) can't be beaten. Best. Chipper. Ever.

For Chinese, there's a rake of them on Parnell St., authentic ones that do real Chinese food. They change name so often that it's hard to keep up but generally, if you see it full of "locals" then you're on to a winner. Try the Salt & Chilli Chicken, or the Singapore Chow Mein in any of them.

Locally, there's a new chinese in Whitehall (just beside the M1 flyover) that is, without doubt, the nicest all-round Chinese i've ever had. I've ordered about 10 different things from the menu, and haven't been disappointed once. Think it's called the Golden Mountain or something. Peking Style Hot Pot FTW.

Funnily enough, the last time I went to Rick's I had the chilli burger with a garlic cheese fries and spent the subsequent three days glued to the toilet.

I HATE Charlie's. It doesn't taste nice at all and there portions are alot smaller than any other Chinese that I have ever been to. Am I the only one?

If I'm going out for a nice Chinese, I head to the Nobel House on Dame St, nicest sweet n sour chicken I have ever tasted! But if we are ordering in then we order from the 87, somewhere in Dublin 1 - food is lovely and it has the quickest delivery by far and I'm on the southside.

No, I always got the impression it was a dump so never went in.
People here like chicken balls and such sh1te though, and like someone else hinted towards, wouldn't know real Chinese if it smacked 'em across the face.

Best chinese i've ever eaten, get a free bag of prawn crackers with orders over 25€(i think)

I was in bennys today for lunch, chips were might tasty and there was plenty of them. crisp and dry on the outside and fluffy like fluffy little lambs inside...yum yum

never really liked the kingfisher, its sorta bypasses the great chipper category and jumps into the medicore restaraunt arena
