Ok well here's the story...I'll keep it nice and brief!

Well, was walking down exchequer st today (just off grafton st) and this man was walking towards me...he looked fairly stoned now and was falling from side to side, then suddenly with a gap of only 2 feet between us, he falls over on the ground almost knocking me over...i got such a fright and wasn't sure what to do. This sounds awful, but I just walked around him and carried on....what would you do, I feel really guilty, should I have stopped and asked was he alright or something? Thing is, if he wasn't stoned and he just tripped I would have stopped but....ah i dunno!

I'd check his pockets for drugs, sounds like he had some pretty good shit.

Put him in the recovery position, ring for an ambulance, give mouth-to-mouth if necessary. Gawd, you're such a b!tch.

    P.S. This is AH. ;)

No need to feel guilty, its standard police and emergency services training to stand well clear of anyone that might be prone and/or inebriated and try to make voice contact first, in case they whip out a needle and give you a bad case of death. ;) Kind samaritan bedamned, you made a reasonable and intelligent decision imho.

If someone who looked respectful and sober fell in a heap in front of me for no apparent reason then i may stop and see if there was a problem. If someone who is obviously drunk/high fell over i wouldn't look twice, they put themselves in that position, then can (try and) pick themselves up.

I don't know why you'd feel guilty of some waster falling about the place on the street. Did you see anyone else come over to help him up? Didn't think so. Forget about it.

He may have been sick and just looked stoned as a result.
    Feel the guilt.

haha glad to hear it was a wise move so....ah i know sounds ridiculous that i'd feel guilty over it but I didn't want people who had seen it see me walk off...they would have though "Jeez what a bitch" ya know...:p

And before someone asks...I don't know if people saw me witness it cuz i didn't look back...

Pfft! Stay the hell away from stoners and drunkards if they are on the ground. They get pissed off if you disrupt their sleep.

You should have stopped, pointed and laughed hysterically, which is the obvious thing to do in a situation like that.

Seriously, I would have called an ambulance.

    You're being sarcastic, right?
Calling an ambulance, because someone trips and takes a bit of a tumble. I'm sure he got right back to his feet again and walked on. It's not like he had been hit by a car or been stabbed.

Could be anything wrong with him. Jesus, if I just keeled over in the street i'd want some ****ing help.

remember if they look dodgy or if it's a dodgy situation, your safety should always be paramount.

Was he unconscious? He may have had a full wallet.

Obviously I wasn't there, but from the OP's description, it seems to me that he tripped and fell because he was wasted, which = funny.

True. All you have to do is use your mobile and dial 999.

Have you ever attempted to get an ambulance? They ask you loads of things and usually try and see if there's anyway you can control the situation yourself, meaning you would have had to approach the guy, who sounds like a fairly dodgy character.

I'd get really drunk and have fun.

    What was the question again?
