Establishing a Trademark

    Hey,

I have an idea for a product, a toy to be exact.
Without going into specifics, from my research so far there doesn't seem to be anything else like this on the market.
I have come up with a name for the product, I've registered the domain for the website and I'm working on a logo.

How do I go about establishing a trademark for it?
I'm living in the US at the moment so I presume I'd have to file locally with, I believe, the USPTO.
Then, from what I've read, I can file with the WIPO for a worldwide trademark.

Does anyone have an idea of the costs involved?

    Cheers,

    Killian

I've just been through the process in Ireland and it's a lot easier than it sounds.
You need to make an initial application in your home country. You should be able to do this through the USPTO online. I found the best thing to do is search for companies/products similarto yours (competitors) and base it on theirs.
Once you have an application number you can then apply under the Madrid Protocol through WIPO:
