    Hello Everybody,

Could anybody out there offer any advice to me for opening a SLIDING window which has become stuck closed. The whole camper was valeted in April and not used many times since for various reasons like study and weather. It was working fine before the valet. I think some of the cleaning agents / polish used may have caused the problem. Is it possible that the rain may have caused it ?

Any ideas what to use to help open it ?

    Regards,

Depends on the construction of the window.

glass in metal frame, glass in plastic frame, plastic in plastic frame.

On glass I'd try to get a loan of a suction pad and then start with gentle coaxing and end with brute force yanking and pulling :D

On plastic that mighn't be such a good idea.

Don't hit me now ...but are you sure all catches/locks are fully open / released?

    Hello peasant,

I have opened the 1 lock that closes all these type windows allright. It is made up of glass in a plastic type frame.

Any ideas barring brute force and sheer ig...... ?:D

naahh ..no really good (i.e. proven:D ) ideas other than trying to "rattle" the glass so it may come unstuck ..maybe rinse the frame with lots of water?

I had this same problem with one of my sliding windows. Couldn't get it open for over a year (but didn't try too hard on each attempt).

Then I tried it with the OH standing outside and me on the inside, and both of us trying gentle persuasion. Eventually it came, so I cleaned up the runners once we had it opened, and now it works perfectly again. Definitely helped having someone on both sides trying to coax it at the same time.

I guess i will have to have the OH outside with the suction pad/plunger using the brute force while i do the technical bit of holding the clip. If we manage to open it ,SHE can then come in and make the tea.:D

    Thanks for the help,
