    Hi
I have started my selfbuild and i am looking at installing one of these fires.{kal-fire heat 100 tunnel}. It draws it's combustion air from outside and is a closed fire , heating the inside air through convection.
I am wondering if anyone has installed one or similar. Any comments appreciated.

    Hi Bakerbhoy,
Dragging up an old thread I know but I'm now in your situation and wanted to find out if you actually went ahead with installing one of these systems.
I'm have my floor in so just starting the walls next week and I've started looking into this type of fire, i've put a duct in for air supply if needed, depending on the system I go for.
I've priced a couple of places for the kal-fre 100 and it around the 5K mark. I find it hard to justify this amount, but I can see the difference in some of the cheaper (3K) types that I've seen.
What way did you end up going?

Sorry about the delay in replying

I went with a stove by tonwerk t-eye swing. We opened the dividing wall and built a plinth over the external air supply pipes. It is a storage unit which has high efficency and is very pleasing to the eye. It can also be rotated to face either room.Costs are 5k+.It has also won inovation and efficiency awards at plan expo over the last two years. This is completely room sealed so compatible with the hrv.
