Library fines and repurcussions.......

Sorry if this is a slightly paranoid question! Had a bit of a run-in with the library there at the beginning of summer (basically forgot to return a few books......wasn't checking my emails etc....also one of the books was stolen from me (assuming from my bag).......all my own fault). Paid the fine and a sum to cover the book. However, I now need to borrow some books over the next few days...but am worried that they have some big warning sign beside my name or something! Are my borrowing rights affected after this? Thanks

If you have paid what you owed, you are in the clear and there are no further sanctions applied.

There may be a special team of library shooters headed up by Boards user Degsy who hunt down and kill past delinquents but if I told you about that, they'd have to kill me too.

He's not joking, unfortunately. They're a crack assassin team made up of the deadliest librarians known to man. Invest in a good Kevlar vest, stay away from brightly-lit areas, keep the head down and you might be ok.

Yes, but knowing what I do about degsy he's fairly likely to take a big steamy **** on your chest, but only if you're a guy.

Jesus H! Lucky I'm female so.

I was in there today, vestless, and avoided a fatality.

Actually just stay in the Lecky - librarians have not ventured there since 1873.

Check your user record online - that will tell you whether you have any blocks on your account. Alternatively phone the Iveagh Hall - 896 1127 - and ask for the Duty Librarian and s/he will be able to let you know if there are any problems.

I remember having a huge fine at exam time. I find tears work quite well. I cried and he let me away with it! Ha!:p

I've probably been overdue on every book I've ever taken out of there. Was a month overdue on one in July.

Lucky you, I had to let some dude do some nasty stuff to me to get let off... then he took a photo of it and posted it on boards.:mad:
