    I drink Faustino (from the Rioja region of Spain) all the time, 1996 reserva, you can get it for around €20, so don't expect too much.
    Me, I'd drink it ;)

    The person who buys a wine worth ageing eleven years isn't the sort to leave it behind him when he moves. The wine is probably faded. Give more info on it and we can say with more certainty.

    Spanish wine is unusual, in that even the expensive stuff is only released by the bodega when it's ready for drinking. So the winery undertakes the cellaring, as opposed to the consumer, as with the French model.

    If it's a Reserva or, as in Beruthiel's example, a Gran Reserva, it might still be worthy of respect. I had some 1994 Rioja earlier in the year and it was gorgeous. 1996 wasn't as good, but was still a decent vintage.
