Downgrading your Sky package

At the moment we have the full package - Sky World and we want to drop the movies because we haven't watched any of the movie channels in a couple of months and so i have a couple of questions.... Their website is just confusing plus you can't downgrade online.

    1) How much would you save if you drop movies and keep the rest of the world package and is it possible? (its not clear on website)

    2) Is the downgrade automatic?

    3) Does it effect multiroom or sky+?

Has anyone any experiences of downgrading? Also all the packages are going up September 1st so want to get it done ASAP

I thought if you are on the old package (i.e Sky World) and you downgrade, you have to move to the Sky 'Mix' choice of channels.?

Be prepared for them to ask you why you want to downgrade and even they will tell you "oh it's only x euro in the difference why bother"

Sky World is The full Sky Mix pack plus Sky Movies and Sports. By downgrading from Movies the only change is you loose the Sky Movie Channels1-10. (You will still have Film4,TCM and others)

If this happens ask for a supervisor. That usually works :). If you want to cancel completely tell them you are moving to Hong Kong. This also workss :).

I spent 25 minutes trying to cancel last week. was put on hold 3 times by the rather persistant girl with a cork accent. and all at national rate. they really find it hard to take no for an answer.Eventaully I got cancelled

Yeah its the phonecall i'm dreading! I have called the sky helpline a couple of times and it was grand very fast; (weirdly always a Scottish woman) but i think it would be a different story if you wanted to leave.

If you can upgrade online surely you should be able to downgrade, but i understand the reasoning behind it - wanting to change your mind about the downgrade.

The price increase was mentioned in a special letter we got a couple of weeks ago. A lot of people in the Uk seem to be dropping their packages because of the increase.

BE CAREFUL when doing this. They caught me out by saying oh you are paid up until the end of the month ring us back on the 23rd and we will cancel. Then rang on 23rd and they said oh you are too late to cancel until next month.

Just insist you want to downgrade there is no problem doing that same day.

They can insist all they want, as you are in your right to do whatever you want with your account, they're just making you feel guilty of not unsubscribin earlier

The last time i was with them, i was going away for 2 weeks one time & they couldnt, as i had already paid up, i went livid on the phone & said "whats the point in paying for something im not gonna use" & ask to speak with the supervisor, but didnt get to that! & they worked out the difference & added it to the following month much to their dismay :D

Just give out as its your right, as someone told me they were in the same situation & worked for them.

Unless someone has been in the same situation & didnt know what to do, as i didnt & know now, as they cant walk over you.

I had the full package and rang to drop sky movies + half of sky sports a few weeks back and had a completely different experience to the above. Girl I got through to didn't question why I was downgrading at all, instead explained the prices of the packages I was dropping to (for the periods before and after the price increases), explained that my next bill would be for just a couple of Euro due to having canceled just after I'd paid so they'd credit my next bill accordingly and that it would then revert to X every bill.

All extremely helpful and at no point was I questioned over why I was downgrading or anything like that.

If you cancel the movies, you wont be able to play any movies you may have recorded on Sky+.

Oh thanks for that! I knew it but had forgot! Have to get it all out of the box so before the phone call...
