HP Pavilion Battery life

I havw a HP Pavillion (new) .I am very disappointed with its battery performance,the very most i can get out of it is about 1 hour. I also noytice i lose battery power when its turned off and NOT connected to mains Is there any way of increasing the battery performance

i had the same problem when i bought my hp pavilion, it should be under warenty, bring it back and get a new battery

sounds dodgy alright, I got one recently and its good for two hours watching video.
