Hannah Barbara Cartoons ... anyone else remember the cheapness?

I hated Hannah Barbara cartoons. They always used the same sound effects no matter what the cartoon was (For example, running away, when the character is running on the spot, and then takes off), and the animation was so cheap, you could always tell where a trapdoor was on the floor as it was a square in a completely different shade the rest of the floor.

Anyone else remember anything shoddy about them?

Sorry, I have to disagree you on this one. I'm a big fan of Tom & Jerry, and I always though Hannah-Barbara cartoons were superior to the likes of what Warner Bros. & Disney came out with. Their was a period though in the 1960's when Tom & Jerry cartoons were made in Czechoslovakia if I remember correctly, and the animation and story lines suffered somewhat. Nevertheless, I still liked them.

You got to remember the context. These were made in the 60's and 70's, when loads of us still had black and white, things like motion blurring didn't exist. Most of the big advances in animation came later in the 80's.

I agree with the OP. If children can spot shoddy workmanship in the land of cartoons, then thats saying something. I did enjoy Tom and Jerry on an occasion though.
