Anyone know why Sophie Ellis Bextor cancelled her gig in Tripod?

Serious replies only please. I genuinely want to know.

Well her record sales recently have been less than phenomenal so I guess there wasnt enough intrest in the gig so she pulled out?

I have it on good authority that only 3 tickets were sold and instead of a gig she's just going to call round to these people and sing for them. Lucky gits.

    Seriously, shes crap.

Her latest album really wasnt anything special, and i also heard through the grape vine that she sold a very poor ammount of tickets.

Hahahaha! If only that was true, because according to a friend of mine her and 5 of her friends were the only people who bought tickets. She loves SEB, she was so disappointed, I think that would just about make up for it :p

Obviously I can't be sure if there was ACTUALLY only 6 tickets sold.. but I can't say I'd be too surprised. Anybody remember the Samantha Mumba gig? Was that 2 tickets sold before it was pulled?

I think Samantha Mumba sold around 30 tickets.
Hell, I could sell 30 tickets and I haven't sung since my First Communion

Cool, my band has pulled a slightly bigger crowd than Samantha Mumba!

A mumba is the technical term for a group of exactly 30 people.

Apparently her face is too wide for the stage in Tripod. The gig is being moved to the phoenix park instead.

I heard it was cancelled after she was found dead in the home a famous footballer.

Apparently it was murder on Zidane's floor...

    Boom-tish!

Dear Lord! How could Samantha Mumba sell more tickets than Sophie E-B? If I had to pick my poison, it'd be Sophie any day of the week. I can't stand Miss Muppet and can't understand why anyone would think she was a sex symbol or put her on a lingerie ad. Those pictures on Grafton St almost made me barf.

In all fairness to sophie I do think she shot herself in the foot playing in Tripod. Its more of a dance venue and she's not really a dance act.Maybe she would have got more tickets sales if she was playing vicar street or something?

I wouldn't imagine that would have changed it too much, especially as I've seen both Battles and God Is An Astronaut in Tripod and neither of them are dance acts! It wouldn't bother me too much where I saw a band, though I can't say I much like the Ambassador or the Point. Venue on Dame Street owned by bad people ftw! :)

I think it was the quality of her work rather than the venue that resulted in mumba-esque ticket sales.
