Just looking at some nice cheap stuff on B&H's www.bhphotovideo.com website, and just wondering if anyone here has any experience of them.

    Cheers,

yes... but only being there in person, not ordering over the web. Very efficient to deal with in the shop though.

I've ordered from their website, absolutely no problems. Beware though if you are getting stuff shipped to this country, you can expect to be stuck with a VAT/DUTY* bill. This will add about 25% of the B&H total (incl. shipping) to your overall bill.

    * yea I know still cameras are exempt from duty, but this is only about 4%ish

I've used them a few times, all through their shop not online. If you're shopping there they charge a sales tax which is additional to the price you see advertisted.

Found them good to deal with, huge range of gear.

Nice place to shop, bit hectic, I managed to find the only Irish guy (Gerry, who just had to tell me his family history and what not...) in a sea of Jewish sales people.
Good shop nice selection and definately a New York experience! I checked out their stuff online first before actually going to the store so you should be fairly safe going with them, the import duty etc is your only worry.

Was there about 2 weeks ago ... bought a pile of stuff including a secondhand EOS3 body ... have bought lenses online from them also but I generally get stuff shipped to a friend in a different State to save on sales tax of 8.75% ...

They are the best in New York in my opinion ... you should not go to the store unprepared though ... I'd make a shopping list first if I were you ... it is a mad place ... their shop assistants know their stuff though ...

As an altenative I also shop in J&R downtown very near to ground zero ... prices are pretty much the same as B&H ... but they open on Saturday's unlike B&H ...

Finally got my first DSLR from Abes of Maine out in Brooklyn .. pretty good too ...
