Which iMac have I got?

This may sound like a stupid question but anyway, here it goes.

I bought what I thought was a 1.83Ghz Intel iMac Core Duo 17" a few months ago.

I'm in the process of upgrading the RAM and I have 1 x 1GB stick on the way to me at the moment, but I am wondering what is the max that my computer can take?

----> why do I want to know this? Well when I click about this Mac it says that my Mac is a 1.83Ghz Intel Core2Duo, so now I haven't got a clue what the maximum RAM is. I know Apple specifies up to 2GB, but perhaps it can support more due to a change in technology (like what happened to the older G4 Powerbooks).

    Any advice appreciated!
    I just need to know so I can decide to buy a 1 x 1GB or a 1 x 2GB :D

No need to bump after only 6hrs <_<

Look at your About this Mac again -- since I'm 100% positive that there never was a 1.83Ghz Core2Duo, only CoreDuo.
As such, its logic board (or whatever looks after the RAM yes I'm tired) cannot be bothered handling more than 2Gb RAM, in a 2x1Gb configuration. This will never change!* You can go ahead & use unmatched pairs if you want though; but I'd recommend against using a 2Gb stick in it (since it'd go to waste anyway, and matched RAM would be better for it)

    *probably
