    OK I guess not..
How about €6K for 5sqM of flat panels, pumps, controller, 300l stainless twin coil tank. Price includes installation & comissioning.

Also.. For heating controls he recommends "Dataterm Intelligent Heating Control",

Has anyone any experience of this or similar "intelligent" heating controllers..

    Thanks

Have a house with Geothermal + UFH heating upstairs and down - broken into three zones

"living" - "Sleeping" - "Upstairs", each of which is controlled by a separate datatherm controller.

This is in use since last October.

They seem to be fairly intelligent gadgets - i.e. can give you a readout of the number of hours each zone was calling for heat at any given time since midnight on a particular day

You can also check how many hours in total it ran for the previous day.

i.e. @ 8.00am you can see how many hours of active heating there was the night before (as opposed to how many hours it was set for)

e.g. set the system to get to 22 celcius for 8am allowing it to be "ON" from 4am to 8am and you can check how many hours it was active for before the thermostat turned it off. some nights it it might run for 2 hours, others for 3, etc.

That way you can identify the zones in your house that are chewing up your oil/wood pellets/ESB and remedy if necessary.

F.Y.I. with our UFH We found that running for longer hours at night at half rate ESB, getting things to a higher temp in the "living" zone overnight was cheaper than a lower temp in the morning and a "top up" in the afternoon at full price ESB.

You can also get some s/w - connect your laptop to the datatherm controller, download the data for the last 6 days and get graphs of the heating performandce, (heat up times, how long the zones hold the temperature (= is it well insulated), etc.

    ---

hope this is of some help.
