As the title suggests, those of you with the Pod XT it'd be cool if we could share our different settings and custom effects we've made.

    For distortion i'm using

    Amp 29 - Solo 100
    - Drive 8.5
    - Bass 9.5
    - Mid 8
    - Treble 9
    - Presence 8.5
    - Chan Volume 6

    Stomp - Screamer
    - Drve 60%
    - Gain 70%
    - Tone 60%

    Mod - Sine Chorus
    - Depth 70%
    - Mix 36%

    A little better :P

I have my guitar hooked up to my Creative Fatality sound card with speakers so its not running through the amp, as its sh1t :D

I know it will be affected by the amp you're using, guitars etc but I'd be great to just have a selection that other people can mess around with, ask for help with changes etc.

Wasn't sure the thread was to go here or theory forum so mods feel free to move it !.

I heartily endorse this product and or service.

To be honest I haven't really tweaked the XT live to it's full extent, mainly because I'm a lazy bum. Was thinking of doing up a ratings site for tones though.

Thought it'd be a good idea, saving the likes of yourself from throwing up a website for it ! just a few clicks away instead ;)

I was thinking more along the lines of taking over the whole world, not just boards.ie

the most natural sound i found is a hiway with a distortion pedal

For a thread about settings, you're not really being too revealing about your settings are you? I wouldn't call what amp model you're using a "Setting" as such. I mean, where are the tone controls? What's your drive, bass, mids, treble prescence, volume at? What are the screamer settings? The chorus?

Using an SLO100, Screamer and Chorus can get you vastly different sounds depending on how you EQ it, or how much gain you're using.

    Mic - 57 On Axis
    0% room

    Stomp - Screamer

    Drive - 50%

Damn you and your metal pack add on !!

Question, where did ya find the cabs on the pod ?

I reckon this is a great idea for a thread. I will go through my POD patches later to see what I feel like sharing with the world :)

If I was to do a sort of rating site (better than customtone obviously) what would you xt live users like to see on it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,291 ✭✭✭-=al=-

i use a soldano slo for my main lead tho and a 4x12 ds1 compression, delay lil chorus thats about it i think

Hmmm you could always have example made sounds, and when you shadow over it, or play, it will tell you the settings needed to achive the sound (roughly)

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 1,863 Mod ✭✭✭✭Slaanesh

Not overly sure what you mean by that.

Ever since I got the XT live and used customtone I thought the interface was terrible and have always thought of designing my own.
Sure I can have it showing all the settings but then I have to be able to parse all the various files for the different products, could be a big ish project but I'm interested in learning a wide variety of new technologies.

I'm quite proficient in Java at the moment and I'm currently coding in .NET. I have some JSP experience and HTML etc ....

Would anyone be interested in helping me do something like this?

If you take the Boss site for instance, they have examples of their different pedals in an interactive drop down, if you choose a type you can select a certain style and it will play a recorded riff or so using that setting on the pedal and it will tell you how to achive it. But in this case you could have people upload themselves playing a saved setting, then just have them post the settings info.

I actually prefer it with bass 54%. It sounds much better.

Feck off man, 54% is overkill! :D

Maybe a mod could allow the uploading of tones to posts? The extension to allow is .l6t and they're usually only about 1kb to 2kb.

Also, on custometone.com there's a lot of pro artist tones where famous heads who use the pod xt, vetta or pod xt live share their tones out. Remember that all those devices (and the guitar port) are mutually compatible unless you put your XT live through the preamp section of your amp! If you do that then the tones will not sound the same as they do on the other devices.

Amazed at how much drive you cats are using! My pet setting is the Line 6 Treadplate through a Treadplate 4x12 cab with a screamer with default settings thrown on, and I when I'm feeling particularly mental I put the drive on 5 or 6. I play death metal by the way!

Mods don't have any power to do that.

If you want to upload something though, the systems allow .zip files so just zip it and upload. ;)

Does anyone else get serious CPU drain when using the PodXT editor software? I used it yesterday evening for the first time in months and it was like pulling teeth trying to get anything done. I don't remember it being this bad the last time I tried it.

Also, this is going to probably sound like a stupid question but how do I get edited patches off the PODXT back onto the computer so I can share them?

Anyone got any good tones for Electric Acoustic? My lack of experience is making it a little fiddley.
