    Wasn't it Rev Hellfire who hosted the server? Think he works for a hosting company or an ISP or something

    was just hoping for a kaillera server (mostly for street fighter III :) ), basically just for irish and maybe UK folk, so with a ping limit around 60 would be good, it would keep the lag off the server.
    im not sure what you mean by sending you link ? :(

    thanks alot btw :)

    Right there's one running at games2.iol.ie
    No idea if its setup correctly or anything. That would involve effort which I'm allergic to.

    Someone hope on and give it a belt, I idle in #hiv on quakenet if you need me.

    Do a search for monaghan as the location and you'll get it.

    hmm not sure

    server replied
    server protocol mismatch or other error

    Its running the kaillerasrv-0.86 in the link you supplied.

    hey man, yeah thats right but im not sure if you set up the kaillersrv.conf file that came with it, you might need to specify the port there,
    ; ServerName can be up to 64 characters long.
    ServerName=Unknown serv0r
    ; Location can be up to 64 characters long.
    Location=Unknown location
    ; URL can be up to 128 characters long. (ex: http://www.mysite.com/)
    URL=

    MaxUsers=10
    Port=27888

    i tried connecting with 27888 and got a response
    Connecting to 193.120.123.135:27888
    server replied
    logging in [but it stays at this] not sure if you need to forward ports on your server etc
    and i can access it via browser on 27888 "http://193.120.123.135:27888/"

    SO i asked around and
    "you dont have enough ports forwarded to run the official server
    that port, default = 27888 is for making connection requests only. Once you make a connection request, server gives you another port to negotiate your login and ping user info and gameplay etc. And its pretty much allocated by system."

    sorry for the trouble :/

    If you find out the range of ports needed I'll open them, I only opened 27888

    I will give you access to 10000 ports and bot network if you can assust me. As a acts of good wills you can open list of ports I give you. I take ports once back from you once I leave nigeran and give you 10% ports to keep.

    LOL

    the server specifies "0" for port and system allocates the next port in its counter [it doesnt start at 27888]
    it starts on some number small but not zero. and counts upwards as more ports are allocated by system, some people do a range of 0-1000 but i suppose they expect heavy loads, it would be great aswell if we could have a limit of 65-70ms ping MAX, so it doesnt effect the server load and other users.

    Ahh yes. I had forgotten about this. Can you get me a range of ports it uses and I'll get them opened.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,346 ✭✭✭Rev Hellfire

    Right after doing a wee bit of googling there are other versions of the kaillera server some of which allow you to specify a port range.

    Fancy doing some research and picking one that can.

    One that I hear can is http://www.emulinker.org

    hey man emulinker supposidly has sync problems,
    if you were to limit it to 20 users, with 60-80ms ping at most limit, then

    a user would allocate , go by up to 3 ports after joining server, so 0-600/700 should do it, il look more into emulinker and let you know if opening that many is going to be a security risk

    thanks for this btw !!!!

    cool.

    All I need is a link to the server and the list of named ports to open.
    Its probably best if you PM these since I don't check this forum as a rule.
