    I have just bought a diamond wedding ring on ebay from US. If cost $424 including postage. Can you tell me how much I will have to pay customs, I totally forgot about this.

    21% of €424 as far as I'm aware.

    if you still have time e-mail the seller and ask him to mark the package as a gift. Some websites and ebay users do this automatically as you don't have to pay duty if its marked like this.

    not quite. (424 +shipping cost) + customs duty (probably 4%) + VAT on all of this.
