... we dont stock him. Nope, definitely nothing in."

and that was IF they knew who i was talking about. spent about 2 1/2 hours in dublin city yesterday trying to get my hands on a Jeff Martin (the Candadian, living in Cork, formerly of 'The Tea Party', apparnetly there's an Irish fella of the same name.) cd, probably Exile and the Kingdom, as i have two of his live albums already (both bought at the sugar club on different occassions when he was playing there). i could NOT get my hands on it. people either thought i was talking about the other jeff martin, or knew him, but didnt stock him cos he didnt sell especially well.

not only that, but i was looking for a couple of The Tea Party's cds... im not sure what theyre called, but i know there's a couple i dont have. not to be gotten.

i dont have a credit card, and even if i did, my computer is riddled with viruses and there is no way i'd put credit card details down on it. how do i get my cds?! i want them so much, but dont want to have to take the internet route to getting them. i tried most shops i could think of in dublin, being directed to random, small places id never heard of before, being told they'd "definitely" have something, but still no joy.

    any clues?

So I presume you went to Tower? I've no doubt you did but checking just in case. Tower is actually staffed by people who know about music. Whereas HMV is all about sales, sales, sales! I worked there - "we don't care about your product knowledge, there's a big enough database for that. We're just concerned about customer service."

Borrow a credit card off somone and use another computer...or as Dudess said try tower if they don;t have it maybe they could order it for you.

yeah, i tried tower. tower on wicklow street said try tower on o'connell street. tower on o'connell street said try wicklow street, i told them i had, so they said try chapters, i tried chapters, they said try tower, i told them i had, they said try roadrunner records, turned out the one by o'connell bridge is moved, so i tried about 4 different places in temple bar, who directed me to fade street, who directed me to george's arcade, who had nothing.

i really really do hate buying stuff online, and i still dont know why. ill wiat till im buyin those muse tickets online and pay it all at once, i think.

You can buy disposable credit cards called 3v. You pay a few quid to use it but you can't be charged more than you pay in advance and it's good if you don't want a full credit card but just a once off payment.

    Yeah, get a 3V card.

I don't buy CDs very much, but when I do, I simply couldn't be bothered going from music shop to music shop looking for what I want when I can order it in a few clicks - and you can likely download it via an illegal route with a clear conscience while you wait for it to be delivered.

    yeah, i tried road records.

i have a 3v card, but it really is quite expensive, and im not mad on the idea of paying an extra fiver or whatever it is.. i think ill just wait til im ordering my gig tickets... bah, this all started cos i decided id make a nice little impulse purchase as i was walking down grafton street...

Send him a message through his myspace, explain you don't have a credit card and can't find his CDs in the shops. If he's decent about it he'll let you send a money order and he'll post you whatever CDs he has himself (he's bound to have a few to sell at gigs).

Might even send you a free cd and become one of your best friends....but probably not

haha, yeah, i sent a message to him via his webpage, might as well copy paste the same message to his myspace, or perhaps check out his message board...

bah, id hoped someone would have been able to think of a really obscure shop i could find it in.

Can none of the shops even order you in a copy? Road have ordered in loads of obscure stuff for me over the years.

"Hello, I'm looking for a live album of John Coltrane jamming with The Smiths. The sleeve has a photograph of chocolate easter bunny with a nibble taken off the ear. It is on double 10" purple coloured vinyl and is produced by Robert deNiro."
