Not sure if this has been posted, Search never works for me on Boards....

Anyway, I'm doing the Star Rider Training (Silver) in Swords this coming Saturday and Sunday. Just wondering has anyone else done this training? How did you find it?

Anyone else doing it this weekend?

Also, do Carole Nash give a discount if you've done this training?

Literally just got a call a few minutes ago from one of the instructors confirming my attendance. He was really helpful and we spent 15 minutes chatting about the course.

There are six trainees this Saturday and four instructors so it will be 1:1 or 1:2 ratio depending on activities.

    Really looking forward to it.
Also, the lady I spoke to when I originally called to book it was really helpful and interested in answering any questions (I didn't get her name).

has the star rider course any impact on your insurance premium?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 301 ✭✭redved

I did the course a couple of years ago, thought it was excellent.

I asked Carol Nash and Aon at the time if it would have any effect on my premium but unfortunately not. Aon pointed me towards their own assesment programme, CN at the time said they would look into it. I never heard back

My instructer was Terry Cronin, I think, sound man and very good

Thanks for the feedback lads. I'll post an update next week when I do it.

When I changed bike recently I called Carole Nash to update the insurance. I mentioned that I was doing the Star training and they told me to call them when I complete it and they would adjust my insurance accordingly.......

I'll let you know what happens when I complete it and call them :)

    Insurance:

I believe that Star Rider is in the process of negociating a discount with teh Insurance Companies. However Each of the instructors are certified by AON and Carol Nash and will provide their own assessment at the end for a few - I think it's 40Euro. Ask them about it.

Damn those insurance companies to hell. Why don't they all accept the same assessment!!!!!

I assume this means if I'm with Carole Nash and get a CN assessment, next April when my insurance is up I have to stick with CN as the other companies don't recognise the CN assessment?

Just do the RoSPA exam. It's accepted worldwide.

Not by Quinn though. Woman I spoke with had never heard of it and wanted me to do their own assessment instead

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

    my mistake.

obviously their own assessment is far better than a world renowned one.

    I stand corrected.
