I know this comes up all the time but this just pisses me off.

Wanted a tabloid to flick through so got the mirror (please don't judge me :) )

Then on page 6 is an article on illegel personal protection weapons and yep what's included is airsoft guns.

There's a picture of a beretta bb gun and it says how BB guns have been seized and also "all items were equally illegal"

Stupid...I know I can't expect much from a trashy tabloid but sensationalising BB guns is just ignorant and doesn't help the image of airsoft in the media

Isnt this the same drivel that was included in the responses on the indymedia article "Illegal Handguns at the Galway Races".

If it is, ignore it. It is the product of a misquotation of an official speaking outside of his field of expertise.

Besides, the chances are that the so-called BB gun was either over the limit or was not taxed, meaning it would be over the limit. This does not make Airsoft devices illegal.

We actually had to deal wtih needle too again regarding this article and his less than judicious use of its contents on wikipaedia.

don't worry about it, airsoft isn't directly mentioned in the article so there's no association, and as for the illegality bit, well that's just poor journalism and typical of the sensationalist papers.

not worth getting worked up over.

Sure you know yourself, papers like this want to spout out anything that will get the hardcore anti-anythings reading and writing in. The fact that Airsoft is so misunderstood, its an easy one for them to talk sh*t about it and get the needle two`s of this world up in arms. I wouldnt take any notice of it tbh.

unless it mentions airsoft directly, im going to assume they are talking about actually bb guns/airguns which are over the 1 joule limit and therefore illegal firearms.

It's only The Mirror. Very few people believe the fiction that they publish.

BTW, I checked the Star newspaper today. No mention of airsoft even though they had a photographer at the Salute show.

They had a few pictures yesterday, but nothing airsoft related.

That's what I figured. The photographer walked past our tent without so much as a second glance. He probably thought were were part of the IDF to be honest. I seen him take two pictures on the day, both featuring the kids at the show.

    Hey Dave,

Yeah, I've been watching alright, but haven't felt any need to comment on anything as all is well in general.

We've been sussing out more legal and technical ramblings... what's disturbing is that I no longer find it tedious and boring... just as well though as it still needs doing.

We've gotten the constitution and membership forms done (now up)

So I spent most of my everso productive day in work today coming up with preliminary designs for patches for people who do things like first aid, fire warden and child protection officer courses.

I'll probably throw up the tools for others to have a go too fairly shortly, just had to get logical templates set up.

Meant to say as well that so far I've heard nothing but good things about the Salute show, so a great big THUMBS UP to all involved - well done lads!

ooh - and for those interested, I'm looking into getting a sniper unit... trying to narrow down the choices but at the moment it's between the KA Dragunov, Star AW-338, TM PSG1 and CA SR-25...

I'll let ye know when I do. ;)

Sniper-Taz?????? Nah never gonna happen you'll miss the intensity of the charge, the headlong rush into enemy territory armed with only a pistol and solitary mag (since its 10:30am and you have gone through 13 batteries in the G36) the bloody minded swearing, the fear induced even in your own team as they hear your battle cry.

Face it man once the Red Airsoft Fog comes over you you're far too scary to play as a sniper. Maybe some sort of advanced Airsoft Mechwarrior role would suit you better :D

Way ahead of you so far I have the right foot finished (well it takes time to build a 60ft robot).

    I can picture it now.
Early morning. A crowd has gathered at an undisclosed airsoft site somewhere in the Republic of Ireland. Its the usual rag tag collection. The regulars and semi regulars are already finalizing their tactics for the days op.
The newbies are watching eagerly all the while wondering just how much money they will be spending on AEGs about 10hrs from now.

A solitary marshal stands a silent vigil over the group before him. Airsofters one and all. His Airsofters. He knows its up to him to get them all through the coming mission. Suddenly all of his senses go on high alert, the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. Something is wrong here, something......but what?

That's when he hears it, a faint low thud, its distant but growing ever closer. A cursory glance at the table to his left confirm his suspicions. The loosely scattered BBs from a previous skirmish begin to shake in time with each thud. Before he has time to warn the group its upon them.

It looms high in the early morning sky casting its terrible shadow down on the Airsofters. This is it their worst nightmare, 6mm Armageddon. Its an Airsoft MEGAS with NOIP at the wheel.

    *Nice*

    EDIT:
Sorry that ended up being a lot longer than I was planning.
*Doubles his dosage just in case*

read that article in the paper ,it stated "bb guns were highly illegal stun guns pepper spray,cs,tazers and nun chucks" also highly illegal ,as we all know airsoft guns within 1joule law are legal , now slightly off topic my mate is a martial arts instructor nun chucks arent illegal has the certificates to prove they are legal, which goes to prove that yet again the media is wrong

    medias talk mostly bs.
its about talking a kind of bs about which the majority of people just wont go check, thats how it works :p

to me, tv's accuracy isnt much higher than those tabloid's now...
    [/offtopic] :o

what the media does is tell half truths, they will tell you that these things are illegal and were seized, which they are but wont tell you the circumstances in which they were seized. it would be illegal to brandish a set of nun chukas in a fight outside a night club or if you jumped somebody with them or if you robbed somebody at airsoft point nd then the items would be seized as evidence as they were used in an illegal manor. of course the media dont show you the other items like hurls and hammers that are also seized as they look to boring sitting on a table in a photo.
