Boston Hotels

Going on holidays next month to Mexico and we've incorporated two days in Boston prior to Mexico.
Now, I've been to New York numerous times and can share any information on it but Boston is another story!

I've looked at hotels online in Boston and they all seemed to be very spaced out! Can anyone recommend a central enough hotel?

Obviously we have no problem using buses/subways but seeing as we only have two days we would prefer to be as central as possible.

    Has anyone got any suggestions?

I stayed here http://www.bostonparkplaza.com/ you cant get more central than this Hotel, around the corner from Boston Common, short walk from Chinatown and Downtown Crossing, definitely recommended.

Stayed here in 2000 - http://copleyinn.com/index.php and quite liked it, but it is more of an "aparthotel" then a full hotel. Not that that there is anything wrong with that but it means no bar or restaurant. But the rooms where big - more like studio apartments then hotel rooms.

Stayed here in 2003 - Courtyard Boston Tremont Hotel. Ok hotel but the rooms where very small, you could'nt swing a cat in them.

Stayed here http://www.thecharlesmark.com/ nice hotel, but small rooms and centrally located in Copley Square. Its also very close to the T (underground station).

I stayed in the Courtyard on Tremont St. in June for 6 nights.

Would never stay there again, or recommend it to anyone. Granted it's a decent location, 300m from Boston Common, in the Theater District, but the hotel is adjacent to one of the main ERs in Boston and as a result you have ambulance and police sirens practically all night. Add to that at weekends there are TWO clubs in the hotel, so you get crowd noise outside until all hours.

The walls are paper-thin too. We could hear the couple in the room next door having a conversation as clear as if they were in our room.

Add to that the fact they messed up our booking and that they twice tried to charge us for bottled water in our room which we didn't use and it makes for a pretty crappy experience.

Don't let the "Marriot" branding fool you... It's a dump.

Stayed in club quarters recently -

It's a business hotel so it has basic facilities.
The upside is that it's bang central in the finance district (devonshire st)
So you can walk everywhere. It's immaculately clean.
It's unbelievably reasonable for where it's located.

I'll probably stay there every time I go to Boston I believe I uncovered a gem :)http://www.orbitz.com/App/shared/pagedef/results/hotelDetails.jsp?z=518a&r=59&z=518c&r=5b&lastPage=interstitial
