hello there, i am planning to buy a new laptop this month and would appreciate any advice on what specs i would need as i don't want to overspend when i don't need to.

anything in the 500 - 1000 euro range, although the cheaper the better.

my main uses for the laptop will be...

i will be playing alot of online poker, 4 - 6 tables at a time, and will have several poker softwares and a fairly sizeable poker tracker database which will grow to around 1gb

    internet explorer/firefox etc.

apart from poker il be using it for standard college work such as excel, word, powerpoint etc.

apart from poker i won't be playing any games really, so basic graphics/sound cards will do.

i may download the odd bit of music but nothing substantial.

    i won't need to watch/burn/rip dvds

any advice on hard drive, CPU, ram requirements, which OS?

    thanks

You're not asking for much at all there really. I would go with a Dell Vostro (in the business section of their website). Just try to get the price down as low as you can. the lowest spec will fill what you want/need. Should prob come to around 480 - 500.
