wrentham is good so i believe my brother lives in boston and told me wonderful things about it, i haven't been though.

best shopping centre in the city area is Cambridge Galleria mall in Cambridge. it costs about 10dollars in a taxi from boston common (big park that cheers is on.)

if you're into italian food i suggest magiano's (not sure of the spelling) it's there on stuart st i think again not too far from boston common.

also try the fanuial (spelling) food market hall, it has some nice stalls in it and it's located in the quincy market area where again there are shops and stalls.

    good luck.

Wrentham isn't worth the effort or expense.

When the sales are on in Downtown Boston, the deals to be had are fantastic.

The two main areas for shopping are Downtown Crossing near Boston Common, which is reminiscent of Henry Street in Dublin and Newbury Street. At Downtown Crossing there's a decent Macy's, Filene's Basement, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. There's also a DSW opposite Filenes.

Newbury Street in the Back Bay area is buzzing and has a lot of designer stores as well as the usual suspects (Gap, Nike, American Eagle etc), there's also a Filene's Basement on it,but it's much nicer than the one at Downtown Crossing (you'll need to keep your eyes peeled though as it's just a doorway from the Newbury Street side, the main entrance is on the next street). There are also a couple of designer second hand stores on Newbury Street and you can get stuff for men and women and also some accessories too.

A block away from Newbury Street is the Prudential Center which has a decent selection of stores.

Ate in the unionoysterhouse and you can choose the booth JFK use to eat at

also try Legal Sea Food scattered around boston good value

Then there is the prudential food hall in the prudential building & there is another one down in the main square

Went to Wrentham got the bus out good but not as good as the one in NY

For more shopping try Newbury Street
we stayed near here and nice area with plenty of shopping

Also some nice restaurants along there for the meat lover if you dont like fish

Having lived in Boston for 12 years Boston is a city with plenty of shopping - I definitely recommend Wrentham outlets - it is easily accessible by bus from South Station or if you rent a car it is only 45 minutes from Downtown Boston. Newbury street is chic but quite expensive!
If he's a sports fan, the Bruins (Ice hockey) are definitely worth a visit - tickets are expensive but the atmosphere is generally good. I hear the Celtics (Basketball) are loaded up with talent this year so might be woth a visit if they are home as well. Don't bother with the Patriots (American Football) unless you can get cheap tickets!
Tonnes of restauraunts in the area - highly recommend Legal Seafood and for a nice romantic dinner visit the Top of the Hub (quite expensive)
    Enjoy!

TJ (not TK like here) Maxx is the best for bargains, far better thqan any TK Maxx here, i picked up a Polo Ralph Lauren Polo shirt for like $29, the same top here is €75 in Brown Thomas (and yes it's 100% genuine they couldn't see fakes) Macy's is pretty good as well.

There is a coffee shop on the way into quincy market on the left hand side. THis has free wireless broadband and it is a decent speed.
