Are play.com the only company who do free postage on books? I've a few to buy, but play.com dont have some of them.

    Any tips?

Do postmen really deliver out of the goodness of their heart? or is the postage price just included in the book price...

Places with "free delivery" can end up more expensive, usually you get no discount for bulk orders. Say a 1kg book costs €5 to deliver, this is just included in the price, so 2kg could be €7 to deliver, but you end up charged €10.

The Book Depository are excellent, every once in a while there are free delivery codes out for shopping with The Book People (not at the moment though).

    A place I use for hard-to-find books is www.alibris.com
Its really good for out of print second hand books- and if you have a specific author you're interested in, they're brilliant. Postage isn't free, but media mail from the US isn't too expensive (plus the exchange rate helps!)

I've ordered from them several times too - good prices, books arrive in perfect condition and delivery is reasonably quick.

Hughes and Hughes do free postage on orders over €20, even take Laser cards.
