Yesterday evening at about 6.30, I saw a lone UK Army Land Rover heading North on the N1 before the border with Northern Ireland.

I thought that this is illegal.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

It was an army green Land Rover with the Cinfidential Telephone writing on the side and UK military number plates.

There was a military vehicle show in Swords over the weekend I am sure it was someone who had bought and restored one.

It is also possible that it was under official escort by one or more unmarked Garda vehicles.

Was there any evidence that the occupants were armed?

No, I was heading southbound at the time so didn't get the best look. It seemed to be travelling on its own. It certainly looked very convincing.

I would be surprised if a civilian in Northern Ireland would drive round in a replica British Army landrover.

I wouldn't worry about it, he won't get past Finglas...:D

It was part of the Irish Military Vehicle Salute on in the National show centre near the airport. Your man driving it is from the North and has a bit of a problem driving it around the place. Every time he takes it out for a spin people throw bottles a him!:D

They only throw bottles at him?
God be with the good old days. But I suppose the price of petrol is scandalous nowadays.:D :D:D
