Do people who post on AH have no other interests?

Ok, "No other insterests" could be a bit strong, maybe it's more a case of 'no interest in discussing things outside of AH' but the point stands.

There's a myriad of other forums to post on here, yet when I visit AH, I see many people whom I never see posting on other forums. So, for you guys and gals who spend most of your time here on boards posting on AH. I gotta ask you, why don't you post on other forums?

Why just stay in AH all the time?

I find that some people who post on generalised forums tend to suffer from 1337ism, so I stay away from them. Musos, film buffs and the like.
I browse if I want to find something out, but tend not to post much.

I post way too much in the "Leaving cert" forum despite finishing the exam:(

I don't know whether to answer given that I don't know which group I fall into (if either). I post mostly in AH because of how busy it is; you can generally find one or two entertaining threads where you can post something funny or insightful.

Also, AH doesn't take itself nearly as seriously as a lot of boards forums, at least the threads I post in don't. I still post on other fora though, Films, Literature, Television, various music related ones, if I can think of something worthwhile to contribute.

Not to nitpick, but do you post regularly on every single other forum on boards? 'Cause if not, then we could all well be posting in other places all the time. It just seems a really odd question to ask...

(Oh, and to answer it, I post on TCD pretty regularly, the occasional post in TV shows or LGBT, and a few ancient ones in the LC forum from way back when)

Did they put the "T" back in?
    Actually, don't answer that.

Certainly a possibility, but I do suspect that there are a lot of posters who spend the majority of their time on AH.

Hardly every single one, but I would think quite a lot, considering the only ones I don't really view are sports or education related forums.

Odd question? Maybe... It's not a very serious one anyway, just something off the top of my head.

Going by the forums you moderate, it seems you do have varied interests.
However, I feel that the people who frequent AH on a regular basis would not be fan boy types.
Generally they are just here to pass some time and blow off some steam.

Well jaysus, would ya look at that? How long has that been gone for? I need to pay closer attention to what's going on around - ooh, shiny penny!

Yeah, that's more the kind of answer I was looking for. ;)

I know a lot of forums are more serious than the light-hearted AH, so it makes sense.

I visit here because there is a wide variety of topics and a tolerence for going off topic without getting banned. My first week on boards I was banned 5 times by power crazed mods.

I use the Leaving Cert Forum, the TCD one, the Golf one, the Bargain Alerts one, various Tech ones etc.

And by use I mean read, not necessarilt posting but maybe the odd post here and there.

I think that is a bit harsh, with a few notable exceptions most forums here are freindly enough as long as you have a valid point to make and don't act like an ashole. People with specific interests are going to go on way beyond the average person's interest level but that is what those forums are for. Non-experts with basic questions can usually get detailed answers from regulars without any problem even when a bit of googling and some intelligence would have done the trick. Often I feel that this fairly unique resource can get abused quite a bit by some people.

In addition AH, I frequently post to TCN, SD&MA, Tech-Security, Sleepy-Dreamy forum, and less frequently to Film, Creative Writing, and Fashion/Appear.

I read most forums on here but don't always post, really only when i have something to say and not some tripe (tho i guess what is or isnt tripe is debatable).

I read/post on a lot of other forums BGRH, Feedback, Sligo, the cuckoos nest, IT Sligo, Bargain Alerts, Lost, space and astronomy, some of the tech forums too even though on some of these forums I wouldn't really consider myself a regular. The reason I spend so much time in AH is because of the sheer volume of traffic and threads that it gets plus it allows me to be a lot less serious than someof the other forums I frequent.

    i mostly post in these...

    counter-strike
    instruments
    alt/indie
    rock/metal (sometimes)
    comp/tech
    portable audio players
    mac
    windows
    programming
    DIT
    prison break (only when on)
    heroes (only when on)
    lost (only when on)

then read whatever takes my interest from the latest posts on the homepage.

Well, I post on Motors (norm and modded) but that's it really.

I read a lot of political stuff also but I use another forum for that as my interests are based more on world politics and the one on boards seems to be more Ireland based. Online gaming is a huge one for me too. I have a WoW guild + forums also I jointly run a HL mod gaming community so there's no need to post here.

Looking through the nav bar the only other thing that really interests me is the Atheism forum but again I spend the majority of my time on World/USA forums debating with American creationist crazies (Pointless struggle really, have no idea why I do it). That's not to say I don't read what's being said in there.

I'm curious to see what goes on in the sex and sexualtiy forum but i'd say after reading for 5 mins I'd probably never go back.

Agreed, what ever happened to him? I remember the whole jarHedz controversy so well (me being a member of said community at the time) was a laugh.
