Camera's in driving ranges

    Question:

How many of you golfers would use the following facility:

You walk into a booth in the driving range, and on the wall is a box which you can put coins into. This in turn records you practicing on to cameras form in front and behind. You are then able to go down to the reception desk and collect your DVD of you practicing, take it home, and see where you've been going wrong.

    Thanks in advance!

I think you would need to facility to look at a display after each shot and replay it to really get the best of of a system like that. The benefit of the
systme would be to adjust your setup/swing while practising rather than
just get a dvd at the end flaws and all and have to take it home to
see what you doing wrong. Then you would have to do a whole other session, pay for the DVD and take it home again before you can see if something was working or no.

or hire a friend to stand behind you with a camera. Can replay videos after each shot, and its free.

    A very good point indeed!
So basically you would want the facility of a little screen, with a foward, reverse, play and pause facility.
I'll put that one in the notebook!

    Cheers!

    Any other opinions?

This is true, but if it only cost you say..... a fiver per half hour, and the cameras where set up perfectly to view you, would it not be a hell of a lot easier?

I think this is the kind of system you looking for. Lets you record you swing from front and back simultaneously , draw lines on the playback and in real-time and all that kind of stuff. You can then take the result home on a USB key. You buy a card with a certain amount of time and operate it yourself.

Seems like a great idea especially if it could be done for around a fiver.

there is something like that on the market here. Some guy has imported a system from Australia.

It's in a bay and you put in your token/coins and get 30 mins.

TBH - unless you are a serious golfer and know the fundamentals of the swing plane, you will be wasting your time unless you have a pro. with you.

The mirrors on the back wall out at carton house are handy. I got my swing recorded years ago and it was pretty cool to see how i swing the club. Handy for spotting the little obvious mistakes that are being made too. Would be good for someone who is trying to make changes to have a before and after video too i suppose.

I cant see a range spending the money on this.

However the number of golfers you see now putting there swings on camera is unreal you can download a number of free swing anlaysis software programs there is 1 on the v1 wesite v1golf.com
Some Nokia phones have great camera's on them.

Not the first research question asked here in recent weeks....I remember chatting with the guy who runs the golf shop in Dundrum last year and he said he had a new venture up his sleeve, but obviously he didn't want to divulge at the time...wonder if it's the same guy?

personally I don't mind as long as it isn't a new user pimping a site or service. If you have a problem with a post report it.

The previous users thread with links to a business site was deleted and when he put the survey up on surveymonkey at my suggestion I let it stay up.

There is no harm imo in users asking for input on ideas, posting links and advertising services is a different matter.

Personally I doubt this is anyone in the golf business since similar ideas are in use widely already.
