Basil Isaacs is the face of the Bacardi Bar at Electric Picnic and ****** not to mention countless other festivals throughout the UK. For many the highlight of this years Electric Picnic was The Unabomber’s accompanied by Basil on percussions with Pete Simmons on vocals.

When not touring with the Bacardi Bar Basil is the main percussionist with Black 2 Basics who have an organic sound with raw elements of funk combined with African, Latin and soulful Jazz rhythms. The music is focused around percussion, with heavy bass, funky guitar grooves and cool horns in the mixture.

They have had releases on Dr Bob Jones Legendry Chilifunk label he also can be found as regular at London super club Fabric.

Basil’s performances at the Bacardi Bar has seen him playing along Doctor Bob Jones,King Britt,Ross Allen,Kerri Chandler,Gilles Peterson, Osulande, Quentin Harris, Phil Asher Spiritual South, Andy Smith Norman Jay to name a few.

If percussions is your thing this is just what the doctor ordered.

The Black II Basic concept has been around for 13 years in the form of live performances from the Black II Basic band and conga led DJ performances. Basil Isaac hosts both acts.

Black II Basic has now also moved onto studio and production work - Basil Isaac and Nadir Z. Other members of the crew also contribute their live instrumentation skills.

Their first release on Chillifunk Records received rave reviews from critics everywhere (Sureplayer in DJ Magazine - "it has you on the edge of your seat and the head jus' will not stop shaking") as well as big support from DJs worldwide.

Basil Isaac is an experienced and talented percussionist and DJ. He can be seen all over London and the UK adding his flavour playing percussion with top name DJ's or hosting his own DJ and live percussion sessions. He currently draws in the crowds at venues such as Fabric, Denim (St. Martin's Lane) and several branches of Latino's as well as regular trips abroad.

Black II Basic has an organic sound with raw elements of funk combined with African, Latin and soulful Jazz rhythms. The music is focused around percussion, with heavy bass, funky guitar grooves and cool horns in the mixture.

The band has the longest running jam in London and has toured the whole of the UK and several foreign countries. Members have changed over time; however, over the last five years the band has stuck together creating a unique musical vibe. Past band members include Maxi Jazz, now of Faithless.

When playing live the band often performs unrehearsed. In this way the musicians, orchestrated by Basil Isaac, are given musical freedom within the realms of the Black II Basic sound, creating a loose and funky feel.

All band member's work and vibe together, interpreting their moods on the night to create a unique sound. The differing moods of the band determine the style of the music. So, when the band performs live the music is never the same.
