As the title says, looking for some freeware app that will burn a DVD image that's in the .img format. I normally use CDBurnerXP Pro but it doesn't appear to handle .img, only .iso.

    Cheers

Try Magic ISO. I think it's free. It's classed as Shareware so I don't know what sort of limitations there are.

A roundabout way that I don't know for sure would work: Mount the .img in Daemon tools (Free and handy util.), then Copy Disc in your usual CD/DVD burning software application.

That could work. I think DVD decrypter can do it. I'm going to try that once the file finishes downloading from MS.

Magic ISO appears to do it alright. If you are using Vista then Daemon tools doesn't seem to work. Or at least it didn't for me.

    Will poweriso do this?

Apparently not though it will convert most image files to ISO format and then mount it as a virtual drive.

Daemon tools works flawlessly for me, and afaik there's even a seperate version of it for the 64 bit versions of Vista.

Just gave DVD decrypter a quick go and that seems to work with .img files as well

I think that for Daemon Tools to work with Vista you need to hav UAC turned off, and you might need to righ-click and run as administrator when you install it. It works fine for me anyway (32bit Vista) and I think that's how I did it.

UAC was the first thing to go.

I took ownership of the entire computer via a nice little registry hack.

Still doesn't work. Not too fussed.

    Thanks anyway though.
