I'm in Bangkok now, just off Koh san road. Flight home tonight at 9, ( It's 12.30 in the afternoon now). Slight hitch in the plan though, had my passport in my pocket last night when we were out as we had just arrived in from Chiang Mai, I decided to put it in my girlfriends handbag for safekeeping which was then robbed from shamrock bar. I've filed a police report etc, wouldn't be too bad but for the fact that its a sunday and all the embassies and consulates are closed till tommorow. Does anyone have any experience of being in the same situation? Best and cheapest way to go about changing my flight?? Any other advice etc appreciated.

What a nightmare. There is no Irish Embassy in Thailand, you'll have to contact the one in Malaysia which covers Thailand. Here's a linky

    http://www.ireland-embassy.com.my/index.asp?page=emergency

I live in Beijing, if really stuck I can give you the emergency number here. You need to cancel your passport asap, seriously.....

What carrier are you flying with OP?

That sucks. However i assume there is no way you went there without insurance? The insurance will cover the cost of a new passport and change flights less excess of about €50 to €100 but usually you get compensation too. Check your poicy.
