There are plenty of opportunities, but it depends on the course. Post up details on it.

TBH, my initial reaction is that the FAS course is merely an introduction, so I would be very interested to see the details.

Yeah, as I suspected, it's really only an introductory course.

My own personal opinion is that it is too short to be of any use. Yes, it covers the basics, but in how much detail? I lecture on a number of computer courses and while the subjects are similar, they are spread over a number of years, therefore cover the subjects in much more detail. Also, I would question what qualifications you get at the end of the course and how highly regarded they are in the industry - there's no indication on that website.

This thread might be better suited to the programming forum, you might get better responses over there.

i dont think its an introductory because the FAS told me that its fairly advanced, doing stuff like macros in html etc.. . They told me that that 70 to 80% start on jobs straight away on about 20k - 30k a year. Is this just bull or what, because it sounds very good if its true

From personal experience from working in FAS, and a few companies that hired from FAS - they have all been employed as software testers...

Sorry to jump on the orignal poster's topic but I was considering doing something similar, however I already hold an Hons e-Business Degree, level 8 award, finished a couple of months back, and am thinking of doing a FAS course like this.

I notice that FAS have a Software Developer traineeship program type thing aswell, level 5 award, would these be considered better than a course?

Whilst on the the Topic, you get some form of payment for such a course, something like €185, right? Could one get a job on top of this, or apply for jobseekers? Unlikely I know regarding jobseekers but thought I might ask.

Continue answering the orignal poster but any info for me would be appreciated :D

Edited to say Good Looh Sor10 with it, if you do decide to do it!

nellyshark you would be better off doing a conversion master like the one in galway

why the sudden change from business to software development?
    no job in business?
hard to find jobs in it as well

It was Electronic Business I did and a lot of the focus was on the Electronic so I am no stranger to developing systems, websites or just electryfing methods and procedures.

Why Software Development? Mainly because I'm still only 21 and DO NOT want to be stuck working for at least another while.:D

The Degree I did was fairly good and a lot of previous grauates have gone on to decent jobs but the whole careers option doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.

Could you tell me more about this "conversion master" please!

Check what certification is available when you complete the course, and the level of it.

    Microsoft etc......
