Improving....

Ok, I've been playing seriously (i.e. with the intention of getting half decent) now for about 2months. I've decided that tournaments suit me best. I've read HoH, Theory of Poker, Super System, other bits and pieces of Sklansky's and other books.
I've also watched re-runs of peoples tourneys on poker-x-factor, and read lots on two-plus-two, here, and various other sites.
So far after around 10k hands I'm about breaking even in STT's, most at the $5 level, and I've had a couple of final tables and a win in $5 and $10 MTT's, so I've turned my $50 on Stars into about $500.
I'm just looking for suggestions on how to keep improving. Is it just a matter of playing and playing and trying to develop the ability to read situations? How many hands would ye think are needed to get to a level where I can consistently win at the low levels?
    Any suggestions gladly received. Ta.

one of your posts in the BB sticky showed some really horrible bet sizing. I cant remember the exact hand but you had the almost nuts and bet like 1/10th pot on turn and river. thats something you definitely should work on

OK thanks, was that today?...If so, I was slow-playing a full house, trying to generate a bit of action by betting small.

Yeah don't do that. Bet much bigger, otherwise you lose way to much value.

based on those stats I'm pretty sure you should loosen up a little.
