GBB mags releasing unwanted gas?

Is it safe to release the gas by pushing the valve on the
magazine of a GBB pistol ?

    Have read mixed reviews.
Some people say push in the valve to release unwanted gas in the mag.

Others say you will damage the seals in the mag if ya do this.

    Whats the truth?

I'd like to be able to push the button on a mag to release gas
for a mag that I am not using or where after I fire a few BB's
But dont want to damage the mag if its not safe to do so.

I think it OK and I've seen people do it.

Better that leaving the gas in the mag....

I have two mags for my Beretta M92 and I do this all the time I use them. As far as I know it is recomended to make sure the mag is empty of gas befor storing it.

The gas is very very cold. When you fire it, it's released through the valve in bursts. When you empty it all in one go by pressing the valve in, well, it all comes out in one go.

As far as I know, it can cause some sort of freeze damage to valves. But everyone seems to do it anyway.

I suppose it all depends how often you use each magazine and empty it in this way.

Emptying the good oul way by just dry firing the remaining gas is what most sites I've seen recommend.

i think if theres alot in it then you should try empty it by firing blanks, that kind of cold can really mess with valves... i never thought about it before but from now on i'm not going to do it unless theres only a little in the mag

Does dry firing not damage the mechanism at all? Even a teeny bit?

    i doubt it

i've actually heard that you should leave a tiny bit of gas in the mags to protect the seals....

think everyone has a different opinion on it, i tend to vent the gas by pressing the valve, even if it is a full mag, although i know i probably shouldnt...

Yep heard that too. Something bout keeping a small bit of pressure
in the seals so they wont leak?

Reason I wanted to use the button to vent the gas
for a partially spend magazine was Noise. When ya need
to pack the GBB away and dont want to be blank fireing it
say if a baby is asleep or the girlfriend would be nagging over the sound
etc etc releasing it this way is quieter.
(So far have only fired my airsoft goodies out my back garden)

dont keep a mag with gas in it for too long (i mean days)

dont push the valve, the cold will burn the rubber in the valve (yes, cold burns :))
and it will end up leaking sooner or later (sooner.)

you just have to empty it by shooting (with bb's or without)
it wont damage the gun (of course not, since guns are meant to be fired, arent they ? ;))

As far as i know your suposed to leave enough gas for 5 shots inside the mag when storing. I think this is true becuase when im storing my dive bottles i have to keep them slightly charged too.
