stressed out over new job

Does anyone else get stressed out before they start a new job?
I'm starting a new job (in a new county!) in a few weeks and I'm already kinda freaking out over it.

I'm really glad to be leaving the job I'm in but I'll be going to a company with over 300 employees & I'm getting a bit stressed..the job i'm in now only has a few employees.
I'm also worried that I wont be able to do the job when I get there, or that I'll hate it.
I'll be getting over 20k more that what I'm on now as well, so that's also adding the pressure..So, I guess I'm just wondering if its normal to feel this way before moving jobs or is this a sign that I shouldn't have accepted it in the first place?

I should also mention that this new job is exactly what I was looking for, with great prospects etc..the worrie only kicked in when i accepted..all through the interview process, i was hoping and praying I'd get it!

    Thanks in advance.

This is perfectly normal. Infact if you weren't stressed and very laid back I'd be more concerned. It just means your nervous, excited and really up for teh new challenge.

Use the nervous energy to do the best you can in the new job

    Best of luck :)

Of course its natural. Just remember that every person you work with had their first day in the job too. You will be fine, they have enough confidence in you to have offered the job to you in the first place. Congratulations and well done, you will be absolutely fine!

perfectly normal. Make sure and dont let it take control of you. its a tricky suituation as when your new you dont want to make mistakes, and this makes you nervious and being nervious always leads to mistakes! if they are even a half way decent company, they realise this. there is usually a few weeks of "unoffical" adjustment time where your treatated really nice and helped out more than an employee of a few years. just be calm, learn from your mistakes, and put in a bit of extra effort over the first few months to get to grips with the new location, systems and general differences in how the office operates. you'l be fine. If you find yourself getting really stressed, tell someone, dont let it bring you down. you'l be fine. best of luck

Thanks guys..I guess that as this will only be my second 'real' job since college, I wasn't sure if it was 'normal' to feel anxious over it. The expectations wouldn't have been that high when I started the first job!

You hit the nail on the head fret wimp - even in my current job I hate making mistakes, so thats a big worry with me when going into a new job..Its a relief to know I'm not abnormal in feeling nervous over it.

If this didn't make someone feel nervous, I'd wonder about them. Don't worry about it.
