formatting wii and downloaded games?

I have a friend who has a wii but as also bought a few games (downloaded ones). He has to format his wii to fix a problem - he cannot get online. (I had the same problem and formatting fixed it) So when he formats he will probably lose his downloaded games?

i think the shop channel will be ok as you have to cancel your membership sso if your format your wii the shop channel isent affected if he dident then everything he already downloaded will be free to download because downloaded titles you buy and delete are free to buy again
