    you will die.

watched season 3 of b5 yesterday, starting on season 4 today soon as I get a few of them pre-loaded.

I'd forgotten how absolutely fantastic this show was. To even suggest that the modern battlestar galactica comes close to it... I must have been mad.

Rewatched it all again about 2 weeks ago (for the 4th or 5th time :)), it doesnt lose it's charm no matter how many times you see it, best sci-fi ever by a fair margine imo.

I'm in the middle of it again - end of season three.
Absolutely loving it, unquestionably my favourite sci-fi series ever!

Just noticed- how come this forum isn't in Sci-Fi section?, had to google for it.

Also, in work there is a yank delivering a course here this week and he sounds exactly like Captain Sheridan, I keep expecting him to get a message from c&c and run out the room!

Because it isnt hosted on boards.ie, its hosted by somebody else (cant think who exactly) and is just linked to boards, same as all forums under the 'hosted' section.

yep hosted by boards but it was never popular enought to get its spot in the scifi section :(

but yeah there are episodes that i watch every so often that i can never get enough of, shadows of zha'dum is one of the most watched episodes

Thanks for clearing that one up, oops.

I cant really watch a single B5 episode, least I can do is a season, the episodes don't have the same impact unless put into the proper context, B5 won me over because its all about the story arc and the develpment of the charecters, you cant get that in a single episode.

Cant think of a favourite episode though, possibly Sleeping in Light, such a superb ending, but my favourite scene is right after the into credits on Rising Star where Ivanova is talking to Franklin in medlab, very very moving scene.

Yep, its one of those really rare shows that actually have story arcs spanning series.
DS9 did have a bit of a loose arc (some would claim DS9 was a B5 rip-off), voyager whilst not the most popular of sci fi shows did have a definite arc and probably is my favourite of the trek arc'd series.
Nothing comes close to B5 and the first ones ...amazing TV, I doubt it would be possible to do the same thing again in the 00's now..hope I'm wrong.

DS9 had a decent story, but dear god at the filler! There was more story in season 3 and 4 of B5 than in all 7 series of DS9, not to mention only 1 full war in DS9 compared to the 4 of B5 (Shadow war, Earth civil War, Centauri war, Narn Centauri war), thats not including the two Minbari wars, Earth and Civil war (no combat seen, and all combat was planet side) or the wars in the films/books.

While DS9 is probably my favourite of the Star Treks, it still wasnt a touch on B5 (I'm in the 'blatant rip off' catagory btw).

Other sci-fi's with good story arcs include BSG and Farscape, Farscape takes a while to get going, but the latter parts of season 1, and all of season 2 are fantastic, season 3 is also great, 4th season and Peacekeeper Wars werent too hot though.

Good stuff!, a colleague in work has lent me the first few series box sets for Farscape and I planned on locking myself away from the world next week just to watch them..yes I am a bit of a sci-fi nerd :)
I never saw the series when first on tv and always reckoned it must have been good given the internet hype when it was canned.

yeah farscape would be one of my other fave sci-fi shows, mainly because it was really dark and completely strange/off the wall...alien if you will :)

it was a pitty the 4th seaseon wasnt as good as the previous series (i hated that stupid granny) but the peacekeeper wars did bring most of it to a nice close

Longfield when watching Farscape for the first time take it with a pinch of salt, the first season starts off quite dodgy, and some downright silly episodes, but give it time and becomes a really dark and powerful sci-fi.

The episode where they mix real time with cartoon is pretty funny though, its like Roadrunner laced with a farscape episode, one of the strangest sci-fi episodes I've seen, one of the highlights of season4 actually because its just so insane :)
