After the last round, I spent a lot of time thinking about how I shoot. Instead of running around like a nutcase, I picked a spot carefully and just went at it from there, for most of the day. I was aiming for sharp, level images. Unfortunately, a failing shutter button on my new 30D ruined my day, well at least put a dampner on things. Anyways, hope you like ...

The 4th one is awesome. Are exposed intercoolers the norm for these guys or did they clatter into something on the day? :)

Hehe i was just thinking the same thing...b looks like a few guys got too close to the barriers or something.

Fantastic shots, they are sharp and have nice dof. No.4 is sweet

A lot of guys just don't run front bumpers for Practice & qualifying, they usally don't stay on the car too long anyway !

Cheers everyone, been trying to get on the way to shots I want for a long long time, think this maybe the correct route !

Did you add blur to those photos in post?

Some cracking shots Paddy. No 4. would be my favourite out of the bunch.

unklerosco, that skyline one is very nice. Would be great for promotional material.

Can see me much better in your second to last shot UnkleRosco ...

    @Fenster
Are you asking me or Rosco? If it's me, No blur added in PP.

From what I remember that skyline was pushing 1000bhp... Thats what the hole in the bonet is for, the turbo wouldnt fit in the engine bay. Looked like a pig to drive.. Sounded good tho..

Must remember to bring a Hi-Vis jacket next time.. Wear one of them and you can go anywhere ;-)

Hey Unclerosco, love the thrid one from last. the helmet one, just great. colour and clarity is brilliant

    Hey Paddy,

I actually love the first one, I find taking pics of black objects on a grey background can be difficult. Any post production in the first one?

Good stuff, those are some of the best motor sport photos I've seen in quite a while.

What sort of shutter speed were you using to get that effect just right?
    Lens?

You'd only wish it was as easy as a high Vis ! You have to have a lanyard aswell, sign the disclaimers, show proof of media accreditation and all the other hoops one must jump through these days !

Robbies Skyline was running around 800bhp on the day, no point in running the full 1003bhp at Mondello, for more on the car visit www.tdp.ie

There's absolute minimal post work on any of those, spent more time adjusting the crop than working the colours, 30D & Sigma 70-200 seem to be a good matching for colour & sharpness, although the 30D is being returned after the next & final round for a new shutter button. I can't remember the shutter speed, was shot in Tv mode though, just adjusting to the speeds of each car ...
