Its probably coming from a Southcoast deflector/rebeamer

    http://www.sctvdigital.com/default.asp?active_page_id=6

Theres a whole network of the things across Cork

However many (all ?) them will be going off the air over the next couple of years to make way for digital TV

The yellow tip aerials are probably the correct group (frequency range) for RTE but not BBC

Why not purchase a FTA sat system, on sale this week in Lidl, dishes arent great or contact your local supplier. You will be able to get all the 4 BBCS and ITVS plus all the various variations plus a lot more fairly decent channels...

About 45 decent TV and 20 decent radio free on Satellite out of 100s (or 1000s on motorised). Much better quality than deflectors or cable or MMDS.

Get an 80cdm dish and FTA receiver. €75 to €150 depending on features. Up €450 for dual tuner hard disk recording High Definition (BBC HD trial only free right now). DIY install or €80 to €300 for install.

did you use the correct diplexer to combine the 2 aerials? if you just join the 2 cables from each aerial together you get a bad impedance mismatch, signal loss and prone to ghosting

if getting one of these diplexers:

you would need a 4047, where you are the 'BBC' aerial - (group A where you are) would go to low channels (left) input and the yellow colour code aerial would go to right - high channnels input

Any sign of TV3? (ch 27) your BBC/HTV aerial would be in roughly the correct direction (west) and same polarisation and type for where you are.
also do you have correct polarisation (look at your neighbours aerials) - your 'BBC' would be installed with horizontal elements, whilst your RTE would be vertical elements.
