I haven't had much look with my Creative Zen and I think that a 2 gig Mp3 player might suit my needs just as well, preferably a 4 gig. Since I have a laptop now I don't really need to carry a second HD around with me and the 1 gig players I had before didn't have enough "For a weekend away" but I think 2-4 gig would.

I'm wondering what would be a good one. I'd rather not go with the more known brands(Apple And Creative and SOny) as their stuff is pricey and not really reliable enough for the money.

So I'm wondering what you'd suggest. I quite liked the crappy little 1 Gig mp3 players, you know the ones you'd seen them around they're kind of shaped like a big pill with a little LCD screen on it and come in black metallic blue or red, but the headphone jacks kept going. I'd like something like that, but with a 2-4 Gig capacity, and a sturdy headphone jack.

I'm also considering a mobile phone with an mp3 player built in? Though that might be a bit expensive. I'd only go for 2 Gigs. I'm thinking of getting a new phone otherwise I wouldn't bother(as it would end up costing an awful awful lot more I know).

How about the Sandisk Sansa? Is that any good?

Mp3 players just seem so expensive for what they are... I can understand some of the HD ones but Flash memory doesn't cost that much anymore.

It seems to be because they all come with screens... I don't want one, just LEDs that tell me what song I'm playing/what directory I'm in.

I really would rather have a record function though, even if it's ****.

Creative Zen Stone Plus. Cheap as chips and packed with features,
you will not get a better quality 2 GB player for it's price.
In fact it's as cheap as the non-brand players.

Thanks, that's a well good recommendation. I passed them up today, was enticed by the price but seemed too simplistic. Looking at the features, changed my mind.

Only problem is I still don't trust Creative's dodgy headphone jacks. I'll just have to trust they've improved.

Where would be the best place to buy one online? Can't find any for cheaper on eBay, all at cost price...

    Hi,
Had a Zen M (30GB) which was good as a second HD, goes up to 8GB storage. Never problems with headphone jack.

I currently have about half a dozen Creative devices and have
had no problem with the earphone jacks - just don't jam them
into tight pockets or you're asking for trouble. The one time I did
have to return a player under warranty I had a new replacement
back from Creative within 7 days, customer service like that is
    hard to fault.

The Stone Plus is only out about 2 months hence they're not in
stock everywhere - best bet is amp3.co.uk or Creative's own site.

If you phone Creative's Sales department they usually give you 10% off
the prices on their website, covers the postage charges nicely ;)

See if you can pick up the key-ring case or silicone skin with clip
for the Stone Plus as it's worth it and will not add much to your total
    order.

You should also take into account what type jack your ear/headphones use.Straight jacks put alot of stress on the jack of the player, especially on portable ones that get bounced around alot in pockets a right angle jack is the better option.

If your buying online http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/ are excellent. They have a large range for what you are looking for too so have a gander.

Anyone know anything about the Sumvision Gio?

How much would i get for flogging my broken Creative Zen? It's just the power button and headphone jack that's gone, I'd be happy to ship it off to someone who can fix it for cheap if they want one(it was too clunky for me anyway).

Or is there anyone at all that would repair it(Creative were charging a ridiculous amount of money for it)?
