I have a standard Nokia 6151 pay as you go Vodafone mobile.
I am heading to the states next week and I need to be able to send
sms text messages home and to receive calls from my friends when I arrive over there.
Is this possible, do I need to contact Vodafone to set my phone up on a new network when I arrive?
Or do I need to buy a new phone especially?
    OR is it imposible?

I can't remember prepaid working on Vodafone but it did on O2. Perhaps they have gotten a roaming agreement since then.

Yeah, they just launched it at the start of the summer IIRC

Thanks everyone, guess I'll have to stock up on credit before I go! Cheers.

You might want to double check that your enabled form roaming. Think ya can do this online or when ya ring the customer support centre there is an option there to do it. I think you need to set your number not to be private also.

All Vodafone customers are enabled for roaming. Make sure you have a tri band phone.

Will a tri-band phone work in Dubai as well?
