I was going to reply to the thread about the song thats stuck in head today, (its the one from the ad about people littering. something something something in the fashion parade...) I was on the street at lunch time and got really annoyed cause I saw at least 3 people throwing rubbish and cigarette butts on the street.
Are you one of these people that dont realise that cigarette butts are actually rubbish and they dont just break down and disappear when you throw them away?

This is one of my all time pet hates! I get really enfuriated when I see it, yet can't pluck up the courage to pull people on it - What kind of response are you going to get from someone who chucks garbage about the place without a second thought?

These two wans in Stephen's Green yesterday got attacked by a wasp while they were having their lunch in the grass. After several minutes of a ridiculous overblown screaming session, they walked away from the whole lot leaving sandwich wrappers, crisp packets and plastic bags in a pile in the grass. The litter subsequently blew all over the park where we were sitting.

I have daily examples of scumbags like this littering, all as bad as the next! What can we do?????????

what really annoys me is people who flick cigarette butts out the windows when they be driving.

Littering is one of the things I hate the most. There are plenty of bins about. Was at one of the bus stops in the airport and a guy threw an empty cigarette box on the ground. There were two bins three feet either side of him!

I think there's a €50 fine if you get caught.

cant stand littering, even if i have a smoke about to go out i would let it go out by itself rather than flick it on the ground, the inside of my jacket is covered in ash. hate people throwing chewing gum on the ground as well, as someone else mentioned there is always a bin near. the authorities should come down like a ton of bricks on people who litter

I think part of the problem is they can't enforce the laws due to the pathetic amount of litter wardens we have.

However, it'd be cool if they flicked them into a trail of oil, after which a huge explosion ensued.

I havent had the balls yet to bring someone up on it but one of these days (shakes fist) I will, and probably end up with a black eye for my troubles.

"All the boys in the club love the fashion parade, And the girls in the club love the fashion parade!"

Sorry, had to be said!! :p

I hate people who litter as well, especially when a bin is just 5 seconds aways from them, Grrrrr!! Any young people in my town me or my buddies see littering we tell them to clean up after themselves, usually works. My town is full enough with rubbish as it is! (Boy racers, various dickheads, etc)

Yep it absolutely infuriates me too. How much of a moron are you for littering? Why do that common and lazy. It's especially annoying when people litter just after coming out of a shop.............. there's usually 2 or 3 bins about the place.

The litter problem in ireland is a real embarrassment, I had some tourists one day asking me, why do we not use the bins ?.

One day my mate was leaning against a bin, outside the shop talking to me and he threw he rubbish on the ground. Thats the type of people we are dealing with. I gave him an ear full, he acknowledged it was silly and picked it up and put it in the bin, it went in one side and dropped out the other and then he just point blank refused to pick it up again. Said something like " it's not my fault the bins were made poxy"

    Indeed.
    They're to blame for slavery.

The fine is acutally €125. I got caught for it a couple of years ago when I was bringing a colleague to work. I don't even smoke but because the car was registered to me, I was caught for it.

Have never allowed anyone smoke in the car since

I absolutely detest littering. I was driving on Belgard Square West today and I was shocked by the amount of litter at the bus stop outside the Spar. And so many bins around. I just don't get why people throw stuff on the ground.

My sister-in-law is a litter bug and proud of it, but her house is immaculate despite having two toddlers! When she once made a comment about my house looking like it had been burgled, I did mention at least I always use bins while out!

Maybe the wasp knew she was a dirty mo-fo! And if perchance I did attract wasps and the like, I'd take my frickin rubbish with me before I ran screaming!

I was bringing a few lads to a TU conference down the country a few years ago. They were smoking in the car which didn't particularly bother me but I was annoyed to see all the cigarette ends on the carpet the next day!

I regularly pick up the litter in my area and most of it seems to be from children (sweet wrappers etc.). I love to see us going back to the glass money-back bottles. Every ditch in the country is full of Coke bottles.

I always see mcmankey bags everywhere. And some of them are even miles from any mcdonalds.
