    Hey guys,

Going to NY with the missus in October,

Would like to book two tickets for a broadway show

Mamma Mia maybe, (She is a closet Abba fan.... )

Whats the best way to go about this,

Any good deals, is it cheaper to go on a weekday than weekend etc.

    Anyone with experience in this?

    Thanks in advance

If you're not fussy about which show you see, wait until you get to NY and go to TKTS on Times Square. You can only buy tickets in the morning for the that afternoon's Matinee or in the afternoon for that evening's performance.

The only thing I would say is they don't like people making up their mind at the desk and if you hesitate about alternatives, they'll ask you to rejoin the queue, so make sure you have an idea of what other shows you want to see if they don't have the show you want.

Generally you'll get about 30-50% off and it's first come first served.

As above, if you're not fussy you can go to some great shows for 50%. You can usually ask around at the sign for opinions on the various shows and then head up to the window to make your purchase.

If you have your heart set on something (Mama Mia is brilliant) then you book your ticket through www.ticketmaster.com for most shows (or just google them and you'll get a link to ticket sales from the site). Any of the popular shows will be booked out and it will be hard/impossible to find them at a TKTS booth (The Lion King, Wicked, Hairspray etc...).

Perhaps have a look at the TKTS board when you come over the first day or two, if you don't see the show you want, then book it. Although that's obviously a little awkward and probably time-consuming depending on how long you're staying.

{EDIT} Here is what was on offer at some point in the last week, it includes Mama Mia.

The queues at this place can be long so get there early - especially if you want tickets for a popular show.
