    Hi All,

Forgive me for going down this route, but even with all the info on the stickys, I still have questions as regards starting out on the road to enjoying airsoft.

On all the stickys, great info is given on different models, where to buy from, what kind of experience airsoft is and what kind of people are involved. But a lot of it is very technical (joules, fps, rate of fire and so on). The info I am looking for is of a more human nature, the personal side if you will, your own feelings on my question.

And so to the question : I am interested in obtaining a pistol, as a start-up model, and want advice on the best kind to get – money is not a factor, but at the same time I don’t want to bust the bank. Is it better to get gas blowback for the more realistic feel ?? Are some models flimsy and a bad weight ?? I was looking at a glock (one of which was up for sale on the last advert here, but snapped up right away) or a berretta.

Any advice would be great. (and sorry for the waffle)

Get a KSC or Western Arms 1911A1 ... you will NOT be disappointed :D

I'd recommend the KJW's SIG SAUER P226. Full metal, 24 round double stacked mag. Fires around 300-310 fps with propane and has a nice kick to it. It's better built and more reliable then KJW's M9 Berreta. Although a lot of people seem to dislike it's weight, too heavy they say, myself I don't think it's that heavy at all.

Fiach do you by any chance know if that sig your talking about it compatible with Mauri parts?

Well I know that the KJW mags will work in a TM P226 I'd assume at least some of it is TM compatable. You'd probably get a definitive answer on Arnie's Airsoft forums.

Gas Blow Back (GBB) pistols are great fun, why do you want to start with a pistol, if you don't mind me asking.

Prob better starting of a cheper AEG.

But if you want a pistol they all work pretty much in the same way, you can pick up a full metal clone (i.e. copy of the bigger brands like CA or TM)
they are quite good but are noramlly lacking in the trade mark dept.

I just got a TM glock 17 and its great i love, full realistic trademarks, great feel and noise.

hate to say at the end of the day its a pretty personnla choice, if you see something like post a link here and i'm sure you'l get about a million opinions

love the hfc m9 myself, and currently looking at getting a kwa/ksc glock 17

and yes, absolutely definitely go for a gas blowback, nothing else compares to them

i would advice you starting with a nice aeg instead (get a cyma ak47 or something like this)
if you prefer a pistol, i strongly recommend the hi-capa series from WE. to me those are 100% "newbie proof" :)

    i suppose for 2 reasons :

    1. from looking around the different sites from asia, the pistols seems to a cheaper option to get started on the road. From that you can see what kind of feel the models have, what exactly an airsoft gun is, etc...

    2. with the fact being that i will prob be ordering the model from the far east, i want to be very careful with my choice. I dont want to get something and find out a month later when I get it that it is all wrong. I would of course prefer to buy in ireland, but most advice is to buy in asia. ( i will keep an eye on the ads though). I will in the future get an aeg or a sniper rifle (i am a bit of a sniper and a good shot) but with the cost higher for them, i simply dont want to make a mistake.

Thanks to all for the advice, you have given me plently to ponder. i will be checking out all models online tonight.

that is a very good idea and one i may do. everybody on this forum seems to of a nice calibre (no pun intended) and I would enjoy getting some face to face opinons from guys who have been doing this a while now.

    False economy.

Assuming you ever go skirmishing and like it, after your first outing there, you will very soon discover (in fact, after your first game at which you be 'pistol-only equipped'), that you need an AEG more than a sidearm (they're called 'side' arm for a reason ;)).

Whereby very (very!) soon after buying your GBB, you feel the irrepressible need to buy an AEG. So it ain't cheaper: it's actually more expensive!

Although it's entirely a matter of opinion, of course.

(yet it's a recurring opinion, from experienced and recent players alike, around these Boards parts ;))

EDIT - seen your latest post since - yes, as we consistently 'advise' new entrants to the sport, your best bet *really* is to get yourself over to HRTA first, see what's it's all about, see if it's your cuppa, etc. , before splashing real money :)

I have to agree also. A full AEG is better option to start out with. And coming to HRTA first is by far the best piece of advice.

I managed to stop after the 6,045th pringle. But only because of the salt poisoning.

Hfc m190 if your looking for a beretta, unbeatable for the price.

Not only that, but you'll very quickly decide you need to rent an AEG to really enjoy the game while you're waiting for your own to arrive. All those €20 notes add up. You're better off getting a cheap clone off eirsoft. You'll get it a hell of a lot faster and probably save money in the long run :).

Best time is saturday morning - 10:30 if you're playing.

Just ask the bitch how many pairs of shoes/boots she owns, either she will realise your right or her tiny female brain wont be able to add up the number of shoes.:)

i found the best way to do it, and it works is to show them the hyper expensive custom one of redwolf and then say i would love one of them, then a couple of nights later tell you can make it with a clone and some aftermarket parts, worked for me, but luckly she doesn't know star are not a clone shh!
