I am debating whether or not to book my ticket now for thailand next summer,i have the money to book and am hoping in around the 700 mark,i would be travelling on my own which i wouldnt mind too much but was thinking of the whole party every night thing, you know kinda having to feel you need to drink if you want to meet people,so ya im unsure really...anyone been over there for the summer, guess i could always just go for a month too...

You could head over on a return ticket, and with 3 months you'd have plenty of time to pop over to Laos or Cambodia if you felt the vibe wasn't right for you in Thailand. Go for it though, you won't regret it.

You certainly don't have to drink to meet people over there. You can book tours and day trips, do some hiking with a group, take a scuba diving course, the list is endless! You'll also meet people in the same guesthouse as you. Parts of Thailand are party central such as Phuket, Koh Phangan, but if you avoid these areas, you'll find you'll meet 'regular' mature travellers who are just away for the culture, new experiences etc rather than getting rat-arsed every night.
