I'm going to buy one this weekend and wondering wheres the best value for money.

I see it's about €269.00 in most shops. Do you get any games with it at this price ?

Any info on it would be great
    thanks.

You get Wii Sports with that package, I think that package is 249.99 in Harvey Norman. For games I would buy them in Gamestop.

Virgin do it for €249.99. I would generally shop around for games. Game & Gamestop can be quite expensive. I've seen Resident Evil 4 going for €60 and €55 in both stores. In Virgin, HMV & Argos it retails for €45.

Any of the shops doing deals with vouchers etc? I.E. Get vouchers when you buy the console?

Gamestop have it advertised on their site but dunno is the offer still going....

I just bought one at lunch time (Similar situation to you .....wife has suddenly discovered her inner child), Gamestop were offering the console with any new game for €300. I asked if I could get Wii play as the free game - got that, + extra Nunchuck (€22) and USB docking/charging station (€20) so all for €342. The only thing it didn't include were the 4 AA NiMh batteries for the remotes, but I have some anyway.

Edit: Oh, I was supposed to get €100 worth of vouchers as well, they appear to be missing so I'll have to call back in an see what's the story there.

brilliant - thanks for the tip.

What exactly can you use the vouchers for?

Is it something like 10 vouchers for €10 each to be used on purchases of €50 or more?

OK I got the vouchers, I have to say they are about as useful as wet chipboard. €100 in vouchers breaks down like this:

€60 worth are €5 off when you spend €59.99 or more on a new release game Do new release games cost that much? The most expensive ones I saw in Gamestop were €54.99.

€6 worth are €3 off when you spend €54.99 or more on a new release game Mmmmm, 1 of these might get used, then maybe not, I saw one or two games I might be interested in but the most expensive was €49.99.

€12 worth are €3 off when you buy a s/hand game fpr €20 or more. But, They don't appear to have any S/hand Wii games.

€12 worth are €3 extra when trade in a game or DVD Mmmm, I might have to dig out some of the crap DVDs I have and trade them in ....if only I could be bothered.

yeah, thought they would be fairly rubbish alright.

Still the console + Wii Play for €300 is not bad....

You could always buy a more expensive game with the bundle and then get a fiver off Wii play with the vouchers?

Only problem is there's no voucer to cover a €49.99 game.

There is an offer in Argos where you can get the Wiimote docking station including rechargable batteries (normally €30) for half price if you buy any game. I was sorry I didn't do this as I paid €20 for it in gamestop and it doesn't include rechargables.

Does anyone have any idea how much of a trade-in Gamestop would give me for a slimline PS2 and around 10 games against a Wii?

I traded in an old PS2 a few months ago and got a 360 premium for 199

I noticed that they are selling a SH PS2 for about €100, so it depends on their markup which could be high enough, happydayz182 got about €70 off for 12 games, I'm guessing that you might get €100 to €120 off obviously depending on what the games are. Ring an outlet and they might be able to tell you over the phone.

Update: Bought one in Argos yesterday. Went to Gamestop but they didn't have Wii Play so I didn't got for the €299 console + 1 game.

Went to Argos and got a special offer they have going - Console, a game (Wii Play) and the mega sports pack or something like that (little steering wheel, tennis racket, baseball bat etc) for €319 which I thought was alright
