Molly says those words in the 3rd episode of season 1, as some of you may or may not know Syler was a different actor for the first few episodes, in episode 3 syler attempted to kidnap molly walker, that wasent syler i think it was the big bad, Molly said "how does he know where i am" in the end of season 1 molly talks of the big bad and says when she thinks of him , he can see her and knows where she is, maybe molly thought of the big band and he tried to take her in episode 3? , just a thought, also i noticed something else

that i didnt the first time, the hiation is wearing a neckglace wigth the same symel that syler writes on the pictures of heroes on his map.

You may be on to something.

If I remember correctly (it's been a long time since i've seen the episode) Parkman shot the individual that tried to kidnap Molly (didn't he?), and he back back up. Now as we all know Sylar can not regenarate. Are we 100% that the Sylar played by another actor is actually meant to be Sylar and not another unknown character?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

no im not, i remember someone here posting that and there where pics comparing early episode syler with late and they make the point that you never see his face in the early episodes and that the figure is very different to later syler so i think people assumed it was just a different actor.

If it was the big bad he would have regeneration & flight powers that syler does not have (but then again some pople think that after he was shot it wasent flight it was more jumping out like a insect or something...) Also syler would have allot of powers we dont know about.

So i dont actually know if it is ment to be a different actor or a unknown charactor thats why i posted this i was hopeing for more responces to clear this issue up, maybe over the weekend more people will comment.

Ya but how did he regenerate. Thats why I think it could have been someone else.
Sure we'll just wait. All I really know is I cant wait for it to return.

He didn't need to regenerate because I don't think he was actually shot. Later on in the series, Mohinder shot at him and he used his telekinesis to catch the bullet. When Parkman shot at him, he hadn't perfected the trick yet - he blocked the bullets but they still knocked him over.

But how can you explain him faling down? why would you fall down if bulets cant hurt you? you dont even gain anything by pretending to be hurt because you cant be hurt

It's probably like being shot while wearing a bulletproof vest. Even if the bullets are blocked, they still pack enough of a wallop to knock over the wearer.

We know Sylar can't regenerate: in "Five Years Gone", he was still after Claire to get her power. But he does seem to be able to get up after taking a hell of a battering, as seen when Peter threw him off the amphitheatre in "Homecoming" and in the finale, when Sylar got away after being hammered by Peter and stabbed by Hiro. Maybe he uses his telekinesis to move himself?

he must have allot of owers that we havent seen but i a still wondering if it was the big bad that went for molly early on instead of syler because those two would have been no match for him and we would have been able to take mollys power

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 341 ✭✭Frankieboy

Im not convinced it was Sylar. In episode three the guy/Syler tries to take her, normally Sylar would just sliced the top of the head off.

How does he get away after being shot as well, he can't fly. It probably was meant to be Sylar but I think they may have left it a bit open.

The character of Sylar is in the early episodes he just isnt played by Zachary Quinto until episode 8, its a stunt double standing in till then that just keeps his face out of site. See the link below for the interview where he confirms this.

    YAY HEROES DISCUSSIONS ARE BACK!!!

    I missed you guys....

I think this new Boogyman Theory (Copyright 2007 by Overheal) could work in that it was an entirely different actor and all... but its a little farfetched. Just a smidge.

For one thing, the parents were frozen to death (Sylar Power - see online comics) and had their brains sliced open (also Sylar) and then

    *something snaps in Overheal's head*

What if BOTH a) Sylar killed Mollys Parents and b) the person we see for the first few episodes is also someone new, such as the Boogyman?

The Bullet Factor holds merit too (Copyright 2007 by Overheal) - Sylar clearly had control of his telekenisis by the First Episode: When he used it to aqquire additional powers by slicing open heads, and to lift a fully grown woman onto the side of a staircase and pin her up with kitchen knives. I think if they shot sylar then he would have stopped the bullet Neo-Style and not falling down.

I think given all that data that the Old Man the Boogyman with a 60% likelihood (the other 40% being the aforementioned incident of having not hired Quinto by that point)

But it does seem strange to drop the whole "forgive me Repent repent forgive me" stuff? Sylar as we know him is not religious, and is in fact completely enthralled with evolutionary belief - extremely contradicory to conventional religion.

ye that was my whole point that it was the boogeyman who went for her in episode 3 but yes it makes sense syler killed the parents because molly was hiding and at that point syler didnt have the super hearing or anything that would have allerted him to the burbard behind the table that molly was hiding in, meaning that the boogeyman is likley different to clare in that he cant heal but it takes ALLOT to hurt or effect him because when he was shot he just got up straight away id say its like shooting someone with 2 bulet proof vests

Did you read the interview i posted above? He says that a stunt double played him in the earlier episodes, played him as in Sylar, does not suggest that its Sylar that we saw after Molly and not this theory of the Boogeyman being in it already?
Otherwise you are saying Sylar wasnt the one in the earlier episodes which doesnt make sense. We dont see Sylars face in the episode where hes after Clare but kills the other cheerleader by mistake, cutting her head open to get at her brain and later falling off the school roof, that character is the same one we see in the early episodes with the baseball cap etc so it seems pretty obvious that it was Sylar early on and like he says in the interview they had a stunt double up to that stage.

i thnk sylar does have regenerative powers, just not as fast as claire's, remember he fell off building with peter and recouperated, i don't think it's ever been really explained what his original power was, at a guess it's his ability to understand the universe, i'm not sure if he's eating people's brains or simply examing them to see how they work (he must have some eyesight!!! lol) also bear in mind that peter now has all of sylar's abilities and more as he would have absorbed them when sylar was smackin' him upside the head with a parking meter :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,174 ✭✭✭D

I don't think Sylar can regenerate, I think he must have gotten toughness. Claire gets hurts as normal but Sylar seems to be able to take less damage but the damage done heals at a normal rate.

I think it's possible that someone other than Sylar was carrying out the earlier killings too. Audrey, the FBI agent, said that there was no MO and no pattern to the killings, while Sylar clearly has an MO.

It could be a future version of Sylar that comes back in time for Molly for some reason.

I hate to be mean and post the non-conspiracy theory here but...if they hadn't even settled on an actor to play Sylar and they weren't 100% that Mr Bennet was going to be a full-time cast member until the show was well under way, isn't it possible that they just fluffed Sylar's early appearance?

Put it this way : there is no specific error as such in Sylar's first on-screen appearance - it's possible that he didn't use his TK power to stop Parkman's bullets because he wasn't expecting Parkman, and that the flight he used was just an enhanced jump (perhaps then bouncing off a wall for a second push upwards) to escape. So far, so good. (As for the MO - there is an MO, just not a pattern to the victims -

As for Molly's "How can he see me?" - it's actually "How did he find me?", which doesn't need nearly as much explanation since all that it requires is for Sylar to have kept an eye on what the cops found at the house.

ye i suppose there is reason, sorry but i did think that she said "how did he know where i was" anyway i just thought it when i was re watching that episode and i also noticed the symbol in ALLOT more places 2nd time around, i cant wait to watch it in HD for my 3rd time

I must admit I checked it before I posted and it took a couple of listens before I was sure.

I'm really looking forward to Season 2 starting, I'm very curious to see what approach they'll take this time around...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,367 ✭✭✭Agamemnon

I think it was Sylar all along as well, they just hadn't thought out the character fully in the earlier episodes. After all, Sylar wasn't even supposed to survive Season 1 but he was so popular with fans that the writers changed their plans.

Anyway folks, two weeks til it returns!!! Woohoo!!!111!!!

I may have to agree but still reserve the right to speculate while I wait for season 2 - it keeps me occupied :D

Ye i cant wait, so many shows so many! the long summer of nothingness except about a total of 6 or 7 hours of preairs

Heh, I've been quite happily switching between shows over summer - Doctor Who segued into 4400 season 4 which will be wrapping up next week, then new Heroes! It's all about planning your viewing ahead of time ;)

Incidentally, has anyone else been following the comics over summer?

I have, I find they take the edge off the withdrawal symptoms. I don't think the recent comics have given us any hints about upcoming events like they used to (remember Linderman's power was revealed in the comics before we saw it in the show?) but maybe there are things in them that will become important as Season 2 progresses. It was interesting to see Candice's backstory and to find out what Ando's been up to since the end of Season 1.

For anyone who hasn't read them yet, you can get them here.

On a completely unrelated side-note - man it's painful trying to read that interview with the Sylar actor which was linked to earlier on. I hate when magazines / websites transcribe word for word what someone says, without trying to edit it and clean it up and make it bloody readable!

Example, "Nope. Not in this show. I mean I think that’s you know, I mean, no I really don’t." - what is wrong with editing this to "No, I don't."???

    /rant over

I'm thinking it could have been Adamthat tried to snatch Molly. The guy that killed Heroes father looked a lot like the guy that tried to snatch Molly. Would explain the powers thing as well!

    Anyone have any thoughts?

Lads, you're forgetting that when season one first came out they had no idea it would get such good reception amongst the viewers, so I doubt they were planning that far ahead then... It was only when the show got really popular after four/five episodes that NBC decided to give them a second season.

We see the Haitian placing the necklace around Peters neck when locking him in the container. Why? Does the necklase itself hold some power. Does it protect the wearer? Is this why the Haitian gets sick months later?
