Yeah, same as that. And VAT and shipping has to be added on top of that

All options set to base and no monitor = €338 inc Vat, not a bad price.

Exactly....take off the monitor and down warranty to one year and you get it for €338.....

Dell community forums says the Vostro can take a decent graphics....so im stuck between the ati x1950 pro for €114 or Xfx 7900gs for €116

    http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/131050

Anyone know which one would be the better deal, with Bioshock,Call of Duty,Pro Evo around the corner?...Im thinking Ati

With the cards mentioned its much of a muchness really, neither are DX10, both are quite overclockable and pretty much the same price for both now too, although the ATI has better benchmarks and used to be more expensive than the 7900 so id say if you can find the ATI cheaper than the 7900 like you say id go for that.

Hi Sqaull20 when you get your dell can you let us now how quiet it is?

I'd be interested in using one of these as a media center PC, but quietness is important.

Also is this a a Vostro 200 or 200st model?

I can get for less than 488 including Vat
    Can anyone beat that

I think they have copped onto this as I was trying to see how low I could get it the other day and it wouldn't let me put it in the basket without selecting the mouse as there is no longer the cancel button that it had on previous offers

    Looks like it's Ex-VAT so about €460ish

    349 ex vat + 50 delivery = 398.59e

    482 incl vat.

How can it be 338 incl vat?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,352 ✭✭✭Ardent

Seems they changed the price. I was getting 230 ex vat earlier, now it's 349 ex vat.

    Oh well.

    Was wondering that myself Sangre.

Using the E-Value Code given in the original post, and making it the most basic system you can it still came to €482 and some change.

They must have copped on that everyone was getting them dirt cheap by going bare minimum.

i had it at 348 inc vat and delivery about an hour ago and i saved it in my basket , went looking at graphic cards , now my basket is empty and the price has gone up to 379 before vat and delivery

No monitor. And it also looks like the price has been reset from last night.

Aren't the Vosto's rather compact? I can't see a x1950pro fitting into it... and knowing Dell the PCI Express slot is probably on the top, which means there is nowhere for the vent on the card to go.

Can't see the 300w PSU being too happy about a card like that either.

Dell community forums....Say the x1950pro,7900gt,8600gts will work fine with the Vostro MT....More powerful cards like the 8800gtx and Ati x2900 wont though....The 300w figure is suppose to a bit misleading, they say 300watt is the mean and the peak wattage is much higher....

I see that the Deal is gone now.....I got it for €230 excluding Vat yesterday (Warranty to base and no 20" Monitor).....its €350 excluding vat now....Still a good deal imo...

I dunno... the card says it wants a 500w PSU.

Plus the card is huge... I have a massive case on my PC and two PCIexpress slots and had a hard time fitting it in... I really can't see it fitting into a Vostro... but if people say they have working in it then I guess it works.

    B'stards.

I ordered a vostro around 4 pm yesterday (friday) with the e-value code of the first post and got the price said in that post (350 incl. vat and delivery). I ordered from the small business section on dell desktops. 2 hours after the order was placed I had a telephone call from lady Dell inquiring my business address and details. I was ordering with a shipping address to college and thus a genuine business address. I received second a confirmation note afterwards. I wonder whether the price differences observed are due to "selling to business"?

Pc's came this morning (on my day off :D ),lovely little things...

Its very quite and runs amazingly fast, having none of that trialware crap is a real bonus...

The nvidia 7950gt graphics card i bought on ebay for €135 came yesterday, been playing bioshock all day, great game.....Its the first time I have ever dared to put a game at max settings and its flying, 1024x768 everything set to max and its not once went under 45 fps...

    bioshock4ed4.th.jpg

Not bad for a for a €473 pc....

Edit Dell up date there deals on thursday usually the morning,so give a check for a bargain...

Fits in easily,I dont think you will have any problems, many guys on dell community forums have put x1950pro's into there Vostro's some have even put the very large 8800gts in....you will need to get a y splitter if it doesnt come packaged with the graphics card,as it doesnt come with Vostro....

There needed to connect the graphics card to cables coming out of the power supply, you can get one in any pc shop for a few euros....

Lucky lad...the difference between oblivion on a non gaming laptop,to a core 2 duo pc with a x1950pro will be huge :D

Just like to add both are standalone games. No need to have any other steam/valve game....

Lost coast is 1 level so no that big :) but the Death Match is class,I play it all the time....

Yea. I didnt notice them intially cause I chose not to install steam last time I updated Catylst cause it looked like bloatware..

I dont supppose there is anyway of removing steam but keeping the games? :p

well the vostro 200 arrived last wednesday (i ordered it saturday) and the ati radeon 1950 pro arrived today after ordering it sunday , the 1950 pro fits in with plenty of room to spare and works great , i swapped out the dell psu and i fitted a BE QUIET 470 WATT PSU and even though it was a small bit bigger than the dell psu , it went in , so a fairly good gaming rig for under 500 euros ( not counting the BEQUIET PSU as i had that )

    Nice....

Actually been thinking of changing the psu myself,in the not so distance future...had a bit of bother putting in the 7950gt as the vostro has no 6-pin power cable...and I had to make one up myself...

What are the dimensions of the bequiet psu?

    And was there any problems?
