It's back in the US some time in Febuary, so RTE will more than likely have it around then too.

Is it not being aired in October in America like every other season? I know it's a shorter season but I could have sworn the air date was more or less the same.

I was thinking that it might get put back to November to stop it ending really early and leaving us with a huge gap before season 5.

    Season 4
    Main article: Lost (season 4)
Season 4 will feature 16 episodes that will be seen in the United States and Canada beginning sometime in February, 2008. In this season, the episodes will be shown consecutively without repeats. More of the Island's secrets will be revealed as the survivors continue to seek rescue after making contact with a freighter. Season 4 will feature both flash-forwards and flashbacks. Production is expected to begin in late August, 2007.[45][46]

    16 Episodes? Thats crap.

Well its to please most fanboys by having 3 seasons of 16 eps instead of 2 seasons of 24, even though they are the same thing really

how is it pleasing to fanboys?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,404 ✭✭✭qwertplaywert

Because it leaves them with 3 more seasons to watch, and 3 more seasons worth of merchandise to buy

February. Screw that. It's bad enough they're stretching it to 3 seasons when it's really only 2. :(

arguably there are equal if not better shows on until then.

i'm in work so i'll keep it brief but there are Prison Break, Heroes, 24 that's what i'll be watching until lost comes back.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 35,137 Mod ✭✭✭✭AlmightyCushion

I never got in to 24 and I haven't seen season 1 or 2 of prison break yet but I think one of the lads has them so I'll get them off him and be hooked in minutes. I can't wait for heroes, although I prefer lost a lot more.

Screw Lost, Just watch Battlestar and Heroes :D

EDIT:Of Course Battlestar aint back till new year as well though.......

Meh 3 seasons of 16 is better then 2 of 24
Doing 24 episodes really puts a strain on the writing team and everyone involved. If you heard Carlton laugh manically in the podcast from roughly when they were writing the season finale you'll know what I am on about
Making it 16 episodes gives them much more time to plan and write the rest of the show which will make it better imo

Less episodes in a season works quite well for British TV shows such as Doctor Who, Torchwood, Robin Hood, Shameless, Skins, etc... and no Irish tv show ever has more than 8 episodes in a season and the story gets told. The problem with US shows, is that they're far too dragged out with 22-24 episodes per season. I think 16 episodes will work well on Lost.

    Yeah if you're a nerd.

:p Although I watched every episode of season 1 of Heroes and loved it (except for the finale - how annoying!) it is in no way near as good as Lost. Watched one episode of Battlestar and thought it was sh1t.

Still, they're taking the p1ss with this 16 episodes crap. Fuckin hell..they'll do anything to get more money.

Its a network decision apperently, the show runners were orginally angleing for the 2 year,24 a season run

Who shows it in the US?

Sweet Jebus, I thought this was a fan forum!!! 16 episodes, February. Next thing they will be asking who Ezra J Sharkington is...

(Is this how Trekkies feel when someone namechecks the wrong girl Kirk flirted with in Episode x of Series y? Hmmmmm).

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 35,137 Mod ✭✭✭✭AlmightyCushion

I knew there were only 16 episodes but I didn't know it started in February. Plus any one can come here not just hard core fans.

I know its a longer wait but Im glad to hear its Febuary thats its starting back now i'll definitly get a chance to watch Season 3 again on DVD when it comes out, like I've done with every season so far, watched it on the tele then again on DVD before the next one started, for Season 3 I thought it was gonna be a Jan/feb start so I was like "ah i can wait a bit to get the DVD boxset of season 2", then I saw an ad on RTE 2 saying it starts next week  so I shot into tower records the next day after work(god bless 9-9 opening hours) bought the DVD and watched it ALL in the space of 4-5 days, I was pretty impressed by that to say the least:D, the only way I could do better than that would be to watch a season of 24 in...yes you've guessed it 24 hours(give or take).

Just wanted to get that out :D:p

    Roll on Season 4

I believe the OP wanted to know when it's back on RTE.

I'm not sure what the lag is but I'd say they'll watch Sky closely & try to get back ahead of them again unlike the end of last year.

I however will avoid until the end of March then download the first 4 episodes to watch over one evening with a nice bottle or two of red. No add breaks or hanging endings to worry about, just play the next episode. Then repeat the process at the end of the next 3 months. Ideal viewing.

If they only had 2 seasons of 24 eps they'd still drag it out and leave annoying breaks halfway through seasons. I don't see much of a difference really.

It would only take two years as opposed to three years.

Not necessarily. They could easily split up series to ensure it would drag out. I just think it's good they've a set plan now 16 eps 3 series no breaks. I prefer knowing that than not knowing but presuming they're going to do one more series.
