Scrolling with touchpad?

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1501 at the moment, and i can't for the life of me figure out how to enable the little scroll things at the side and bottom. Anyone any ideas?

on the right hand side of the touchpad put you finger on it. and move yoru finger up and down. Just make sure you have clicked somewhere in the window first. Same goes for the bottom part of the track pad.

Also, Some dell's do not have this feature. I am using a Dell d820 right now. And its simply dosent work at all.
